The Black Church is one of the most famous churches in Romania and one of Brasov's landmarks. The architecture is very beautiful and picturesque. Worth the visit
This is a very nice church set in a very nice town of Brasov and is well worth a visit! I think its only open at certain times like 9am till 3pm and you can't take pictures inside. Apart from this its really good, there is a lot to see inside and it has a rich history which is well explained in English inside the church.
Amazing church in amazing surround, you have to visit. It is better in a. Spring season o summer. The 3 town in romania, today start our nice trip from bucarest
8 lei per adult for entry - a bit more if you want to video/take photos. All of the historic info boards are translated into English. As you travel around the church there are little flip-boards with translated details about pews, paintings and other artefacts/locations. The exterior of the church is also very beautiful. It is located just off the Town Hall square (Piata Sfatului) which is a great meeting/eating location.
Pros: + Lovely gothic exterior+ Good location - it's right next to the old town square, can't miss it;Cons:- Not open on Mondays, 3 hours working time (12:00 - 15:00) on Sundays, so we couldn't actually see the inside.- No place whatsoever in front of the church. It would be nice to have some space in any direction from this church, as it is very high and one needs some space to see it all. Instead there are buildings all around it in a 4 meter radius, so you need to kind of bend your back and neck backwards to see it all.- Repairs on the outside are somehow sloppy - it is called the "Black" church after all; Why did they renovate it using white bricks is beyond me..
I've been here multiple times and it is a nice church with beautiful architecture. You can't leave Brasov before visiting it, the entrance fee is very low and you'll find a quiet place where you can meditate or relax for a couple of minutes.
A beautiful location with great historical impact of worth visited during the summer months.Brasov is worth visiting because it is part of history as Iasi Romania
We went there for the organ concert that's held once a week in September. For the price of the concert ticket we've also got the chance to visit before and after the concert this architectural gem.
We visited by mistake due to my inexcusable map reading, thinking it was the cathedral!, but excellent English translations helped us appreciate the unbelievable historical value of this church . I was intrigued by the German. Cobnne tigon to the Reformation and the link to the ancient Guilds. Take time to envelop yourself in the history of this place.
The Black Church (Biserica Neagra) is a good example of late medieval Gothic architecture from this area and it is the largest cathedral of its kind in Transylvania and even in Romania. The price for visiting the interior is a little under 2 Euro for adults. It dominates the whole historical center of Brasov with the easy recognizable silhouette. The works on the church started in the late 14th century and were finalized almost 100 years later. Initially was a Catholic place of worship, but from the first half of the 16th century it became Lutheran. The name is given after a great fire from the 17th century that blackened the stones.
I love the architecture of this building. Just the exterior of the building took away more 30 minutes. I love to take photo with this building especially with snow!!!
Black church is in Brasov downtown. It is located in front of the history museum. It was built in 1336 and visit it is come back the medieval time. Twice destroyed it was rebuilt again and give us a excellent historic gift with the building details. Ticket price is 8 lei (Romania currency) = 2€. A parking is available 100 meters over the church.
We were not blown away by this church to be honest. It was also more a dirty grey colour than black. The lady on the cash desk was not over friendly and it was also pretty muddy all around the building!
Historically and architecturally interesting. Not always open so make sure you get there earlier in the afternoon. One of the main attractions - shouldn't miss it.
Amazing church, very majestic. If you get the chance listen to a concert in there, you won't regret it.Close to the city centre and a bunch of museums and other historical buildings.
