R&A offers the best home-grown foods in our area. I never realized that peaches came from N. Georgia, but R&A offers fantastic peaches all summer, grown right here in Ellijay and many varieties. In addition, they have really good apples, cabbage, and other vegetables. They have a bakery and many nice family members working to serve the public with great care.
We enjoyed browsing through all the jarred goods. They have a tremendous selection. I bought the Muscadine Jelly and it is delicious. After shopping, we enjoyed their yummy hand-dipped ice cream. We look forward to visiting again this year during vactation.
For years, Merciers was my favorite place for fried pies, occasional sandwich, etc. When their quality tanked, I discovered R&A. Their pies cannot be beat and on certain days they have homemade soups, chicken & dumplings and so forth. Yummy!
You can always find this business open when all other markets are closed in Ellijay. They stay open year round. Wonderful family run business. Always greets customers with a smile and hello!
Good assortment of fresh apples and fresh baked goods. Freindly staff waiting on you and always open to give you any assistance you may need and always with a smile. Great samples of the fruit and very clean facility
R & A Orchards is open year round. Their apples are the finest. Try Arkansas Blacks in the fall - they're in for only a short time. Apples start coming in the first weeks in August and are still available in November. They have peaches and fresh produce grown in their own gardens in the summer months. The apple fritters are good but the coconut fritters are"to die for" especially if they are just out of the oven or heated when you get home. Customer service is the finest - checkout their website: randaorchards.com
I'm hungry writing about it. They get some great sweet potatoes in the fall. Apples, Apple Pies, Apple Slushes, Apple straws. My famile get pies besides apple. I just don't get it. They have good Chicken and dumplins too. Folks are friendly!
We visited this apple house two years ago and made it a point to return. It was everything we remembered! Delicious pies, all the finest apples and friendly. We had lunch while we were there. My husband had some BBQ and I had. Spam sandwich (talk about comfort food!) Though they had some picnic tables outside, not having a pet friendly area is a drawback for us. We aren't that couple that takes dogs everywhere, but when we vacation for extended time, they travel with us. We managed by tag-teaming. My husband got a cart and picked a few items, then came outside to watch the dogs while I went in and finished shopping. Wish we could've shopped together. The best part of this place is that we saw tons of locals! Unlike other orchards this one is not a tourist trap and that was important to us!
We've been making annual Ellijay apple trips for years. We've tried most of them deciding that R & A is the only one worth our time. We've never been disappointed by the apples and enjoy other store items, too. They have the widest variety of fried pies that I've seen. This year, I tried the apple blossom. You choose the type of apple that you want. They core and slice the apple into a bowl and ladle warm caramel sauce over it. This is a nice alternative to a caramel apple. It is quite possible to get carried away by all of the goodies that you can buy to take home. Even our five and under grandchildren enjoy the trip. Have fun!
We went during the Apple Festival, and although very busy, service was fast and friendly. An attractive, easy to get around building with many products, it was easy to find things we wanted to purchase. No extra charges! Just good apples and apple products reasonably priced
I've visited most of the apple houses in the Ellijay area, but R & A is my favorite. I find that overall they seem to have the best quality in produce and fruit. Love their selection of peaches and vegetables in the summer. The apples and fried pies are great, too.
The selection of apples is great and the fried pies are second only to the Apple Barn in Pigeon Forge. They are good.
I have patronized this particular apple house for several years now. Though R & A is but one of many apple houses located along Ga Hwy 52 in Cartecay, this is my favorite. The apples are always fresh and so are the baked goods. They sell local vegetables also. The people are very friendly. You can also pick your own apples here. Best thing, though, about this place is that it is open year round while all the others close after the apple season is over. However a word of advice, avoid the two apple festival weekends in October unless you like sitting in traffic for hours. Better to go during the week if you have to go then.
It was a very hot humid summer day and our kids loved the cider & strawberry slushies. I got an apple fritter and they had a variety of fried pies for sale.
I love that R&A is not just an apple house anymore. They have fresh, in season produce year round. They also serve lunch daily and have a choice of menu items (sandwiches) and a daily special. Friendly service and great food.
