The Post Cemetery was one of my favorite aspects of the hike into Ft. Bowie National Historic Site (see also my review for that). I think it would be worth it just to hike to the cemetery (about a mile) even if you didn't make it all the way to the fort. Very sobering history.

The other one has the grave of Earpp brother with sandy knolls and metal fences like this one. Post cemetary is more complate and tourist centered. A few stones appear to be vandalized.

Amazing to see where all the people were buried that had died of disease, murder etc. A little booklet is at site for you to read about all the past deceased.

This site is reached via the 1 ½ mile trail that leads to the Fort Bowie ruins. For more information on the trail, see my review for Ft. Bowie. This site is within the first mile of the trail. The post cemetery is the final resting place of 25-30 civilians that died during the time the fort was functioning. All of the military personnel that died there were moved to a military cemetery in San Francisco. Before entering into the cemetery, you can borrow or purchase (for $1) a guide to the cemetery. I would recommend reading through this as you walk through the cemetery to help you better understand the challenges of living through that time.I highly recommend visiting Ft. Bowie and seeing the cemetery along the way.

Oude begraafplaats waar o.a. de broer van Wyatt Earp (O.K. Corral Tombstone) begraven ligt. Hij was sheriff in Willcox.
