We had a nice 2 day stay in January. We booked on line this time and although we got a nicer "cabin", it's a trailer really. This one was great and only 1 RV next to us and no one else! But beware of the online booking. They have cut out the $25 food voucher but if we would have called them, we would have gotten the golf cart free. Otherwise it is $50 a day with $100 deposit. Our son and wife stayed in primitive camping and would have been easier to get to them or even loan the golf cart to them some. There is still a 2 night minimum on stay in cabins. Always nice there though. People great, restaurant on site has great food and friendly people working there. Also bands in evening if you are into that. General store is neat to look around in. You can build a fire right in your yard if you want to. Rent canoes etc. and buy firewood. It is cheaper to pick some firewood up at grocery store if you can before you come. We will be back for another mini vacation. Is very peaceful.
In December of 2014, I spent a weekend with a group of friends at this campground. Friday and Saturday nights were noisy with young people playing music very loud and running golf carts with gasoline engines way into the morning hours while people were trying to sleep. Technically these vehicles are not golf carts but ATVs and by the campground's own rules, should not be allowed. There was one individual from security who took our complaints seriously, while the rest of the staff, office staff included, did not care one bit. In fact, the office staff and management was for the most part – rude and uncooperative. Because of the general lack of concern, the only recourse available was to leave an unfavorable review. Unfortunately, camping facilities in this area is limited, so if you plan on staying there, beware.
On a recent return visit to Spirit of Suwannee we were just overnighting in the campground so decided to eat dinner in their restaurant instead of cooking. While the wait staff was attentive and friendly the food was atrocious. First my wife's chicken breast came out raw. They dutifully replaced it and did not charge. Correct policy. I had the rib half rack. It was not a real half rack - penurious portion - and it was poorly steamed and sauced. The park is a great place as is the campground - except when it rains and floods under your RV - so it would be nice if the restaurant were up to par with the rest of the place. If you go don't bother eating at the restaurant until they get a new cook or chef!
Best light show in Florida! So under rated and yet it is absolutely the best! We got our tickets free from S & S after buying a couple items we needed there. Once we got to the grounds we had the best time. The drive through portion is long but turn the radio on to the station they suggest and you will here special music for each of the displays. And be sure to take your time even if there are cars behind you because it is the neatest display yet. We caught swans hiding in the woods and a frog jumping into a literal pond. It was so neat. The kids loved it Even the College Kids thought the display was the best. After the drive through you come to the auditorium where you hear wonderful carols and can walk the grounds seeing more displays. After you can walk into the village and have treats and see santa! So much fun and so much to do! We had a blast and would definately go again. Might even try and make it up there again this year it was so good. It is worth the extra drive and time to go to this display and yes it is well worth it.
We paid for a 2-bedroom 'cabin' and found ourselves in a very old (1970's?) single-wide trailer-nothing like the photos on their website. First thing we saw was a sock and shoe on the couch, along with very wrinkled sheets. Later we found two other shoes, as well clumps of dust, roaches and spiders under the bed. The bathroom sink was clogged with hair. The bed-frame has over an inch of dust on it and boards were under the legs of the bed holding it up.We were afraid to sit on the furniture and luckily had brought our own sheets. Since they have a 14 day cancellation policy we were stuck in this awful place and were charged $150 a night for it!!!Additionally the night meal in one of the pavilions had such a sewer smell coming from the bathrooms next door, we ate quickly and left.
My last visit to the park was May 2014 at that time I wrote a review I am updating to write a great review. They brought back the garbage cans to camp area and bathroom were very clean and the pool area was updated. Seen a lot of good changes this time. I went camping with my family had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner it was $5.00 a plate very nice excellent food campers bring a covered dish or dessert. It was a laid back time with beautiful weather. All the campers were so friendly and always helpful. It also had a Farmer's celebration with food crafts and bounce slides and live entertainment also. I would highly recommend this place for families and just a little getaway to go camping for rest and relaxation.
Most everything was great: the staff, the activities, the scenery, ect. Unfortunately the eldest son in our family only came along with us to take part in a geocache adventure they advertise. We got most of it done as a family, but we were displeased to find that one of the last caches containing the last question to the crossword puzzle isn't there. The staff at the office told me that the person who manages the goecaches hasn't maintained it for a while, with emphasis on "a while." It didn't ruin our trip, but it was a slight inconvenience.
This is the most awesome, hippie paradise! Complete with bat houses and cabins, pool, bar, store, golf cart rental, and restaurant! Everything you could possibly need is on site! Outdoor arena for concerts ! It is an amazing place!
I attended the 2014 Suwannee Hullaween Festvial. Wonderful people, gorgeous surroundings. The stages were set up very nicely. A lot of room. The stage that is in the actual woods was my favorite by far. It has wooden type leveling like and ampitheatre, which for someone like me who is height challenged it made a HUGE difference to be able to see. The feel of that stage was great since it is in the trees and they had hammock in some of the trees surrounding it. Nice shade. The food vendors were so good. Not corporate food vendors but reall people selling home made fresh good food. The Gouda boys were delicious!! If it was not so far from me I would go every year!
We were on our way to Orlando it was getting late we saw the sign for this park before so we thought we would camp there for the night the sight was not that great but we heard music and went to check it out they hade a live band which we enjoyed they had a restaurant I had a great steak and can't wait to go back
Great place to listen to music or to camp. Full camping resort including Restaurant and Country Store. Convenient off I-75 or I-10.
This park is magical if you are a music lover. It's something you have to experience for the festival scene. You really can't put into words how wonderful this park is until you go.
Great place if you like music camping and just to have fun. They have just about anything you like hiking, boating and just plain fun. Don't kill you with the rules great place.
arning. Unsafe. People will steal your stuff here. I've been to a number of campgrounds and festivals but have never been a victim of theft like I was here. Had a small primitive campground side and hung a tapestry outside the tent. Someone came by and stole the tapestry. It was a peace sign. Really. Sad. It's an ok place but NEVER think that your personal belonging are safe here. You should pack up everything, everyday, before going out on a day trip if you value your belongings.
There is no better run music festival spot in America, they run the place like a swiss watch, I've never waited more than 15 minutes to get in and it's just super chill.
