Working with Jamie Hess to get just the right gear for my Nordic racing (both classic and skating) has been a pleasure and such a great help. Prices beat the alternatives and service was excellent. Jamie totally goes the extra mile. He also has turned me on to Kitewings. Hoping to own a set soon!
Nordic Skater will get you what you need. We finally found size 16 boost for skiing and skating. No one was even willing to try for me, but Nordic Skater came through.NOTE: I think that they ordered two pair, so if you have big feet, you may be in luck.
Even if what other reviewers have said about the place being disorganized were true, and the "customer service" was the worst they've ever had, remember this guy is providing a huge service to Nordic skaters in New England. Go visit Norwich and see, it's not so bad. I enjoyed talking to all the staff. So what if your wallet and ego got a little bruised. In the end you'll probably get some awesome skates and some prefect 10 ice just down the road.
Owner was rude, misleading and provided terrible service. I would avoid this company. It takes a lot to get to me- this is the first time I have been moved to write a review of any product or establishment.
My husband needed a size 15 crosscountry ski boots. The big box stores didn't carry sizes larger than 14. We were at our wits end, then we found this site. They had size 15,and larger,in name brands. We got the brands and style numbers Josh recommended and viewed them on my iPad. We ordered our choice. Josh said they would arrive in three days. They did. We are extremely pleased with Nordic Skater. Everything they told us about the product and delivery were on spot. Highly recommend you shop at Nordic Skater.
I had a issue of my shipping a pair used skikes to this company to sell which they said would be a easy product to sell here. Every 2 weeks or so I called to see what the status of them selling my product. I was always told oh we'll get back to you when they sell. Then I started looking on their site to sell if the product was pictured on there and it wasn't so I called again asking when they were going to picture the skikes on their site. I kept getting a run around with no straight answer. Now when I call no one picks up the phone. I live in wisconsin and this is very hard to deal with this all the way out there. Now I'm going to take this matter to higher ups in this state. I hope now they will pay attention.
I ordered two pairs of SKIKE V8 Lift Cross-Skates and one skate had some damage caused by either being dropped or abraded during shipping. I contacted Jamie Hess, the owner, and after sending photos of the damage on the skate, Mr. Hess sent me a replacement and I received it promptly. My experience was excellent and I would do business with this store again.
I spent time on the website looking for what I wanted (it is a bit disorganized) and followed through with my order over the phone. I couldn't have done it without their help. I did have a bit of a shipping disaster (do request an invoice and tracking #) but in the end I got my order and had a wonderful season skating. I had one more order for additional equipment and everything went well. I'm extremely happy with them, tell other people about them and plan to order from them in the future. Talking with the lovely Hema on the phone is a plus. :)
I ski anything with an edge, competed in NCAA nordic combined, and have skied all over. Visited website, filled out their helpful questionaire, and then visited their store. They found the perfect skate ski for me. Also offered an on-the-spot class in waxing and maintenance. And they evaluated my boots and existing gear. Best selection of skis I've found. Expert advice. Took the skis out the next day; have never been happier with new skis. Steve is a gear wizard and industry sage. Josh was helpful on the phone and followed up with me after I submitted their online questionaire. They know their gear, won't sell you anything you don't need, and care about what they sell you and what you do with it. A professional operation. If you want good skis, make an appointment, take your time, and you'll get exactly what you need.
My experience was with the Skikes (skies on wheels) I ordered. First I found nice info on the website so I got an idea about them,What I'm really should expect from this totally new equipment for me,than I've called in and one of the owners helped me with deciding on which model to go and I very liked the option to rent and try before buy and then get a full credit if I buy it!.When I finally decided what i was helped by a wonderful sales person Hema , and she helped me with any issue that i had even after 4 months like broken spring ,she sent me one no question asked. So I'm very grateful and surely will refer my friends to them.
This is my first review of any retailer, ever!In the past 35 years, I have always had near perfect service whenever ordering anything online or by mail, but this retailer lives in a completely different world. I ordered skis and bindings over the phone since they were not available where I lived and you can't really order them through the website. The owner must have been hung over when he took my order because he did not seem to understand what I wanted. I had to repeat myself several times when I ordered and I was not sure that I would get what I ordered. When the skis and bindings arrived, the bindings were not set correctly. I politely asked to borrow the tool so that I could set them correctly. Owner agreed to give me the stupid plastic tool, which should have been included with my skis, but never followed through on that. I sent another follow up e-mail and that went unanswered. It is not often in the USA that you pay your hard-earning money, get poor product, and then get horrible customer service. But. if you want that, this retailer is the one for you. Now, I have a pair of skis with incorrectly set bindings that I have to take to a local retailer and pay for them to set the bindings correctly. And I paid $283 for that privilege! Also, I asked three separate times for a invoice for my order and never got one. In the 35 years that I have been buying stuff, I have always got an invoice or a receipt whenever I have bought something. Haven't you?Why no invoice? This guy must come from Greece! In Greece, nobody give invoices or receipts because no one reports any income on their taxes. This guy must be doing the same thing to avoid paying taxes to the Internal Revenue Service. His suppliers should discontinue supplying him, his potential customers should go elsewhere, and this guy find something else to do with his life that he is better suited for.I hate to be harsh, but everything I write here is true.
The owner of the shop is a freak. Nervous aggresive and wild eyed. Looked and acted like he was on something. Was angry all the time I was there and completely mislead me in an attempt to get me to buy what he was selling. I would recommend avoiding this business. So does the BBB.
Yes they sent me the wrong bindings on the skates. Had to return at my cost. Calling and explaining seems to get you know where. I was told that because I live in VT I would get a shipping deal. When they made a mistake they told me I got a deal on shipping so I would have to pay to return due the their mistake. Never sent the skate guards in the 2nd package. They don't understand customer service......
If you visit this store, be aware that the prices have nothing to do with the various prices on the website. The website is home-made and so disorganized and poorly designed that it's probably impossible to keep it up to date. The owner does not want the customers to touch any of the merchandise, and he gets very agitated about it. He also is unwilling to identify some of his merchandise by brand name and country of origin. He calls things by names like "standard" model and "elite" model, but avoids simple descriptions like brand and model. His advice can be a complete contradiction of what he said two minutes ago. This is the exact product for your needs, and then, it's completely wrong for you and you shouldn't consider it. For the same product. He did not return repeated calls about some boots he said he would order for me. Eventually, after 8 unanswered phone calls and emails, I gave up I bought them elsewhere. It's really weird talking to him; because he's very nervous and high-strung, and a bit wild-eyed. All in all, a waste of my time, and a person who was very unpleasant to talk to. A very bizarre and disturbing experience. A three-letter business bureau rates them with an F.
You plan to buy at nordicskater...? Then here's what you should know before clicking on the «buy» icon: 1) employees are awesome and really helping you to find what you need. They will not put pressure on you and give you all the information you ask with all their knowledge and professionalism. 2) shipping was fine in my experience; fast and reasonably priced.3) as long as your order respond to your demand and need no aftersale service everything is right. So far you're a happy customer, but... if something is wrong.4) that's where the experience turns to a nightmare! 5) the great employees can't help you anymore because service request are responded (or not) by the owner. This means that he simply does not respond to you at all !! E-mail or phone, it's a dead-end ! Even if the company's rep is behind you! Will I buy again from nordicskater ? NEVER, and I will make sure as few people as possible do. I'm sorry for the employees, it must be hard to work for someone who hides behind his employees.
