My wife and I made the short drive from Middlebury to Vergennes hoping to visit their historical collection, but were disappointed. The historical room in the library says "closed for renovations" with no projected date of completion, as of June 2014. So potential visitors are advised to phone first to confirm that it's open.Barring that disappointment, we didn't think the drive completely wasted. The library itself is historical, with a grand Federalist-style building and lots of art work and historical pieces displayed through the library itself. If the materials in their history room are better than what's displayed in the reading rooms, it might be a rewarding place indeed!
