This park has RV sites, tent sites and lean -tos for campers. For day use they have a nice pavilion by a new pool. The pool is perfect for small children and includes a slide. The walk out to the point is spectacular. For strong swimmers they can go across to an island and explore. There is also another smaller island you can wade out to. This is a great destination for young and old alike.

Pool looked fun. If I had my swimsuit on I would have gone in. Ranger was nice. Big barbecue area. Nice roofed hut.

I stayed one night but had planned on 2 nights. I dry camped with a small pop up camper. My first time in upstate VT and found the drive there a little scary. RT 7 is a small 2 lane road, bumpy and curvy, riddled with fast driving tractor trailers who will ride your bumper without mercy. The scenery there, what I could peek at, was truly beautiful. Now I know where clean air is kept. I checked in and was early but the parking lot was made available to me to wait in. The park staff was friendly and accommodating. After I set up my camper, staff started to mow the grass, which took most of the day. I had to go hiking in 90 degree weather just to get away from the lawn mower noise. A short hiking trail leads to the point with good views of the lake. I let my 2 dogs go for a swim. Upon returning to the campground, I found the stairwell to the lake with a sign warning not to swim due to algae. I was pretty upset of not being warned at check in of this and worried about the health of my dogs, not to mention that I waded in the water as well. The site I chose on line was in 100% sun with absolutely no shade. I wish the site would warn you of this, especially since it also receives strong wind from the lake. I canceled my 2nd night after seeing my camping neighbors' tent blow down. After I packed up for the next day, I took a walk to the first camp area and found it to be mostly sheltered and more appropriate for tents and pop up campers. Too late to check to see if I could switch to another site, I left.

We booked one campsite for 8 people and had an amazing experience. Facilities were good, clean restrooms and far from city-noise. Look for a lake front site while booking for even a better experience.

I'll start off and say this park is in fact well maintained and great for little kids with it's playground and pool. However, that said you'll be camping in a wide open field surrounded by RVs. I would not recommend this park for tent camping! We arrived after a rainy week and the "site" we were on was in the middle of a flooded field. The other major drawback of this camp ground is that there is no real beach access. You can get down to the lake but it's through some pretty nasty muck. I would not consider this campground for future trips.

Do NOT trust the recorded message that says the pool is open. Drove 45 minutes so my kids could enjoy one last day of swimming. Found out upon arriving that the pool was closed. The lake is beautiful, but there is no place to swim at Button Bay except the pool. Decided to pay the entry fee anyway and had a nice walk, but discovered the Nature Center was also closed. Very disappointing.

Our family camped for an extended weekend in August. This state park offers lots of outdoor activities. The view of Lake Champlain is magnificent. We could actually look out at the lake from our campsite. This is rustic camping since there are no water, electric, or sewer hookups. There is a pool with lifeguards but no beach to swim at. If you don't have your own kayak or canoe you can rent one right there at the office. The kayaking is wonderful. I did see people fishing from their kayaks. The nature center is worth the walk. Don't forget to go beyond the nature center for a look out from the rock formations. Be careful because the rocks on the point are very slippery along the edge of the water. Bring bikes because the area is flat and fun for even those that don't do a lot of biking. The only problem is that they don't have ice and you have to drive down the road to the store for ice.

I am a city person and I find myself loving every minute of staying at the park. I choose to kayak on the lake and I see one beautiful mountain after another. The houses surrounding the lake look like million dollar homes. For a few minutes, I wish I were living there. I also rent a lean-to for 2 nights and it is a very wonderful camping experience. I highly recommend visiting Button Bay State Park.

We didn't camp out, albeit we wished we had a camper! The lake is stunning, the grounds and trails are beautifully kept. Vermont should be very proud to offer travelers this treasure! Thank GOD it is not a federal park. Visited during the so called 'shut-down' .

State parks in Vermont make great biking tour stops. This one is right on Lake Champlain, close to good food, and perfect for a night or two.

A good family venue, picnicking, swimming, short walks, camping. If you spend time here, make sure you also visit the nearby Kingsland Bay State Park as well, which has a walk around the peninsula which is among the most stunning short walks in the State.

We stopped here for an hour on our way up the coast of Lake Champlain & took the short hike. The hike leads through a lovely forest to a beautiful point on the lake. The side loop (Lake Champlain Trail) leads to a tiny rocky beach where we looked at the interesting fossils from an ancient sea including a large nautilus. We saw some birds, a turtle, & a snake. The map indicated that the hike was 0.5 miles one way, but we think it was more like 1.5 miles round trip; it's an easy hike over a well maintained trail with some gentle elevation change. The nature center was closed when we visited. Anyone who likes to stretch their legs a bit would enjoy this trail. Other reviewers have described the other facilities in the park.

This is my favorite swimming place as the views of lake and Adirondack Mountains off the point one accesses at end of a lovely 15 minute walk from parking lot (or 5 minute bike ride) are unsurpassed.

Large open park with great access to the lake, I also saw a swimming pool and there were several covered awnings if weather is too hot or wet. Nice park ranger and rest rome

As a Vermonter, it is my pleasure to visit some of our parks each year. This one is always one of the best maintained. The showers have external entrances, which is more convenient and efficient than having them in the men's and women's rooms. There are a few sites overlooking the lake, and these go very quickly. There are other choices for remote camping, but if you want a nice facility with some amenities, Button Bay is a great choice. There is also a day use area.
