My wife and I met Seth at two local wine tastings that he provided wines for. He recommended their monthly dinners and we saw the ad for the Valentine's Day dinner. We made dinner reservations and also reservations at a B & B in a neighboring town. The experience was much more than we anticipated. The owners and their family made us feel at home. They showed us their winery and provided samples of their wines. The meal and wines were fantastic! The owners children and extended family were so professional and very friendly. They shared their knowledge of their business. All in all it was one of our best dining experiences. Compliments to the chef(s) and every one involved with this wonderful evening. We couldn't leave without purchasing some wine that was not available in our area. We will definitely return.

What better way to spend a summer evening than having a wonderful dinner & a fabulous bottle of wine. Meranda-Nixon Winery released their 2013 Norton and had a tasting of their entire stock. The easiest thing to do is log on to their website and see for yourself photos of the winery & their selection of wine.. The Cab went perfect with out steaks and we're already planning our next trip..

Great family owned winery. Everyone is welcoming. Full dinner with appetizers salad steak sides and always delicious desserts one Saturday a month . We especially like the Norton and Cabernet Sauvignon. The red oak creek is good chilled. We have been here several times and plan on returning.

Atmosphere is great, people are friendly, wines are great and the winery dinners are worth the trip. We enjoyed the Valentines dinner and have been there one other time.

If you are visiting the sites in Ripley, it is just a short jaunt up Route 68 to Laycock Road and the pretty Meranda-Nixon Winery. We were there on a Saturday afternoon interested in doing a tasting and purchase a bottle or two of something we liked. The building is lovely with a porch on the front, and inside, tables and a tasting bar. The proprietors were friendly and we enjoyed many of their wines. Tastes are listed as $1 each on the tasting menu and there was cheese and crackers. A nice experience and a good end to a day in Ripley.

We had a friend in from Texas who enjoyed wine. We had never been to this winery although had known about it since its origination. The owner was very professional and our friend said he enjoyed some fine vintage during his tasting. It's worth a stop on your way though southern Ohio. I have heard some great steak dinners with music are scheduled on some weekends.

My husband and I spent our 30th wedding anniversary enjoying dinner outside overlooking the Meranda-Nixon vineyard. Opened in the spring of 2007, this family owned business is very special. Seth & Tina Nixon Meranda have a winery with international award winning wine and a unique way to have dinner. Open on Friday & Saturday (make reservations--8 people were very dissapointed the night we had dinner because of a full house..937-392-4654) guest have the opportunity to grill your own steak or salmon. (assisted by the older son, Preston) ..while there is always a large selection of sides and family recipe desserts. This is one of the most relaxing way to enjoy dinner looking at the vineyard, a few horses as they pass by or partake in a very educational tour of the vineyard by Auston...(the youngest son). We try to go twice in the summer and once in the fall as the leaves are just turning and you can still enjoy dinner outside in the crisp air...This is a wonderful play for just a couple of 20 of your closest friends..they'res pleanty of room...

Along the Ohio River valley are many small estate wineries who produce 500 to several thousand gallons of wine each year, a legacy of Nicholas Longworth who established American vinoculture on the hillsides of Mt. Adams in Cincinnati in the early 19th century. Today, these small estate wineries flouish in a region scientifically proven to be of the same soil composition and climate as the finest grape producing regions of France. Meranda-Nixon(www.meranda-nixonwinery.com) is one of these fine estate wineries.Located just off Route 68 between Ripley and Georgetown, Ohio, M-A produces Chardonney, Traminette, and other French varietals. It was their '08 Traminette and their '11 Catawba that we found most pleasing but its your taste that you must satisfy. Catawba, being naturally occurring in this region, seems to be successful about anywhere it's grown hereabouts, one of the reasons Longworth selected it when his French varietals failed. From a low of $8.00 for a bottle of Traminette to a high of $22.00 for a Cabernet Sauvignon, the bulk of the wines range between 8 and 12 dollars per bottle.Like many Ohio wineries, they also offer dining on the weekends where steak and salmon are paired with their wines for an evening's enjoyment.M-A sits in the center of one of the most historical areas of Southern Ohio - the John Rankin House and John Parker House in Ripley, U.S. Grant's Birthplace at Point Pleasant, his Boyhood Home and Schoolhouse in Georgetown are only minutes away. It was a day trip that brought us to M-A and the other wineries in the area. Most of these wineries are open on a limited basis, usually weekend days and short hours, so check their website to prevent being disappointed.
