If you are a history buff, it's worth a visit. Not a lot to see in this old town unless you enjoy such places.
Wow! What a treasure on the loneliest drive in America. We were lucky enough to meet Patty Peek who made sure we went downstairs to see the signatures & photos of all the acts that have performed there. She even shared some insider information about some of the acts. What a lovely lady. It was past closing time but she still gave her time to us. Small town charm.
Take a break while driving The Loneliest Road and self tour this landmark. The craftsmanship of the building is amazing in itself but the history is even better. It was fun to check out the back steps and see what all the performers had written on the walls and ceilings. A perfect spit for local culture and history!
Visited the Eureka Opera house for the first time this past week. The Opera house FAR exceeded my expectations! Well maintained and our tour guide was terrific. Wish we had had more time to absorb the history. Acoustics were incredible!
Spent quite a while in the Opera House and shown around by Patti who is knowledgeable and so full if enthusiasm for the building
We happened to be walking by when the curator came out. She invited us in to view the Opera House even though they were closed. It's a very pretty old building and she is very proud of the people who have performed there. Nice, unexpected tour.
My boyfriend and I squeaked into Eureka just in the nick of time to catch a performance of "A Midsummers Night's Dream" by the Utah Shakespearean Festival on March 16th. I hate to admit it, but after a road heavy day, I was craving something with the cultural value of a side of onion rings. As soon as we stepped into the beautifully restored opera house, I was overcome with a sense of gratefulness for a boyfriend classier than I, and a community like Eureka that holds the arts close to its heart. For $7 a pop, we were enchanted with a passionate performance in an intimate setting, an enthusiastic audience, AND complementary coffee! It was a jewel of an evening, and a crazy bargin at that. Be sure to head over to the Keyhole Bar next door for after show brews and tales.
