Chronological history of Benicia logically presented. Very helpful staff. Ask to see the arsenal which is an outside add on.

Interesting small museum featuring local military history and other local history. Professional staff. Interesting exhibits in three different buildings and garden.

Lead by dedicated staff and members this little museum has the most wonderful exhibits. Never boring, always so informative. A great place to visit and bring guests and family.

The museum is only on the second floor of the Camel barn with limited topics arranged by theme: Camels (of course), working Telegraph station (a winner for 10 year old), Firefighters, Area Indians, etc. The Video Room and Navigation Display parts of the Museum with out of order. Even so, Bay Area stuff is here not found in other Bay Area museums.Park in the upper lot next to the bridge walkway to the second floor. Bathrooms are down the stairs on the first floor. The garden patio and lower floor are for receptions/dinners.

Benicia was conceived in 1846 and became a city in 1847. Named after General Vallejo's wife, Benicia. This little museum has so much to see it takes time to get through all the information. The curator is wonderful at designing interesting shows. Visit this site and then tour Benicia to see what you have read about.

This little museum has many interesting items and provides a lot of history regarding Benicia and the surrounding areas. Of note is that part of the museum can be rented for small receptions. It would be a lovely place for a small wedding and reception and the rental rates are reasonable, particularly if you are from Benicia and get the resident discount.Entry to the museum is free on the first Wednesday of the month, otherwise its $5 for adults. Check the event calendar online as there are always interesting exhibits and special events. A few years ago I saw a replica of the Hunley here!
