This place almost looked like a tuscan church. It is big, grounds well manicured, and has a lot of old antiques with great stories behind them. The wines are well crafted, and the owner visited and helped pour. It is a must stop place if you are wine tasting in Lodi. The tasting room is very classy and elegant, and the wines don't disappoint.

On Saturday 2/28, the Sacramento Bee featured an article about this winery. It focused on the beautiful antiques that the owner has collected over the year, particularly a magnificent carved fireplace mantel that was rescued from a mansion being torn down in Pennsylvania in the 1960s. It has been in the barn of the demolition company owner until his death. Berghold was able to acquire it and it is magnificent. Even if you are not a wine drinker (it is excellent by the way), this is a lovely place to visit. The gardens are beautiful. The property is available for weddings and other events. We had difficulty putting the address into our GPS. It is apparently not actually in Lodi, but in the town of Victor. At any rate, the GPS would not take the address. We had to call them. Go to their website for more information.

Diane M.Goleta, CA7/28/2013A wonderful wine tasting experience. This really is the #1 winery to go to if you are limited on time. My husband and I drove our RV pulling a boat into their parking lot. Lots of room for the big rig. The antiques and surroundings were beautiful! My husband commented " that was the best wine tasting experience and I didn't taste any wine!" We purchased Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah and a bottle of the Crankcase. Superb red wine ( and I prefer whites). Dennis was an excellent wine pourer who knew his stuff. A picnic lunch on the back patio made our visit complete!

This is unique place that must be seen to be believed. This winery is set in the estate vineyards in a reconstruction - interpretation of a Pennsylvania barn. It is not a barn but an elegant stunning building filled with antique pieces mostly architectural items salvaged for the east coast.Salvaged is a misleading word since these pieces have been meticulously reconditioned where needed by experts so they represent truly magnificent examples of what grandeur was in a time long past.Joe Berghold is an interesting man from Pennsylvania who has had several top positions in companies you would know. Now that his time is his own he has spent that time creating a place that must be seen and savored.Amazingly we were among the very first visitors the Saturday we went and somehow we connected with Joe himself. It was a combination of the shared Pennsylvania heritage and the fact I am a woodcarver who could fully appreciate what Joe showed us. In the hour we spent with Joe looking over and admiring so many unique pieces we grew more and more amazed at what we saw and learned. You may not end up with a private tour from Joe but this placers well worth the time. The wine is outstanding too - I do not mean to downplay that. We ordered several cases to be shipped home and we opined the wine club too..

Gorgeous winery and excellent wines! Mr. Berghold is often pouring in the tasting room, and enjoys sharing stories about his passion for wine and art. The tasting room is magnificent, filled with many treasures brought from overseas. A must see!!!

If you like wine tasting, do yourself a favor stop here, you won't be disappointed. The prices are not outrageous, the surrounding are beautiful, and the people are friendly. I can't recommend it more!!

We have done tasting at most of the Lodi wineries. Berghold is the best. All the wines are worth tasting and some are worth far more than they charge. We generally get a case when we visit the tasting room.

Beautiful grounds, beautiful tasting room, beautiful people (owners), wonderful wines. The best in California, in my opinion. Always look forward to a visit there. Their wines are number one on my list.

The great winery transports the visitor back to Old World Europe. The impressive structure hosts friendly staff and great wines - Lodi wine with a Napa/Old World feel. A must to see. Be aware, this winery is only open Thursdays thru Sunday - well worth the trip!

This winery is a must to go too. Looks like it belongs in wine county. It is huge, outstanding wines and great service. We have been going for years it is so good. They have beautiful items inside and the bar is old and has a history the owner loves to tell you about. Family owned and when you are there you feel like they know you even from the 1st time we had been there. They have a music machine in the side room that it fun to see and hear. If you can only go to one winery this would be the one!!!
