After a little confusion about my tee time, I had an excellent round here. Our Concierge had made a 7:30 tee time, but when I showed up at 7:15, nobody was there. They all rolled in around 7:50, saying that 8:00 was their first time. They did not seem to have me down at all. There was a frost delay that morning anyway, so I guess it didn't matter. Also, it seems that they favor members over resort guests, but the two guys that they put ahead of us took off and we never saw them again, so I think the starter knows what he is doing. They paired me with a couple of other guys that were staying at the resort and we all had a ball. The course is a hoot, a lot of elevation changes, some blind shots; nothing that I am used to here in Dallas. One of the guys that I played with had played the course before, and that was very helpful. Pace was very good; we played with nobody ahead or behind us. I think you do play a bit slowly here as you have to stop and take in the vistas.I played the course in December, so fairways were a bit sparse, but not really bad at all. The greens were in perfect shape, amazing for the winter. They were fast and true.I played with rental clubs. They had a choice of pretty up-to-date Titleists or Calloways. The cost also included a sleeve of balls and a glove. You will need more than one sleeve. While there are no water hazards, there is a lot of out of bounds and barancas (ravines) and such were you would not go to find a ball. I played really well for me and lost 4 balls to the barancas.Don't let the short yardage of this course fool you into thinking it is easy. With the elevations changes, it plays a lot longer than the card indicates. Also, greens are tricky and very well bunkered. A great golf adventure.
golf course is in very good condition, only 6200 yards from the tips, and front 9 very attractive and challenging ( especially if you have not played before)...then 10-15 are very open before 16-18 provide a tough finish. All golf staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful...they want you to enjoy your experience...special mention to Roland ( one of the nicest guys/starters I have ever met) and Mark...both offered exceptional serviceMy main gripe is being "gouged" as a resident...hotel charged me $180 to play as a guest, but I was joined by visitors paying less than 50% of this via golf now and I believe groupon !!!...not sure I understand the logic of this.....I did , after complaining, get a discount, but that's hardly the point....replay rate is very attractive ...cart fee onlyworth a trip, but research/select booking agency carefully
A great course, right on property. Make sure you add to your handicap, or play your first round ever. You will enjoy the views, elevation changes and speed of play. It is not crowded!
Didn't sleep there nor played golf but I had brunch there on sunday with family. It was delicious and the view is really beautiful. Impeccable service too. Make sure to make reservation, it is a hot spot in Ojai..
The golf course is short, yet very challenging. Especially the first 3 holes and then the last 3 holes. Well maintained and not crowded. The driving range and putting area are both very large and well maintained.
This is a really stunning property. Well manicured, lush green course nestled at the base of majestic mountains
they were fixing a couple of holes on the back nine, so that interfered. The general condition was very good, and the staff was very accommodating. Nice, interesting layout. Use extra club on the uphills...
Front and back nines are different vintages, as are many older resort properties' courses. Fun to play and very nice staff
Great course, great views only sorry they were putting in a new watering system and doing maintenance when I was there. A good golfing challenge to be played off the back tees
Had a chance to play ojai golf course. The course itself is a real challenge as there are many canyons, creek beds, well trapped and thousands of trees :-). It is kept in real good condition with the greens being in great shape and fast. Even though it is a challenge, the best part is the beauty of the course. Many separate fairways with beautiful views of the canyon. I really enjoyed just being out doors, seeing the beauty and enjoying a day of golf.
Kumbaya is translated as "come by here." The Spa day at the Ojai Valley Inn was definitely one of the most unique and spiritual experiences that I have had at a spa, definitely- come by here. The Spa at the Ojai Valley Inn boasts that the Kuyam treatment is one-of-a-kind in the United States, Kuyam (Koo-Yahm). Kuyam is a Chumash Native American Indian word which means “a place to rest together.” And that is definitely what we did. A group of 8 gals gathered for our bookclub annual retreat, celebrating our 15 year anniversary!Surrounded by the Topa Topa Mountains, the 31,000 square-foot day spa is the focal point of this serene resort village which includes two pools, a fully-equipped workout room, Mind and Body Studio, Spa Boutique and Artist Cottage and Apothecary. After we pampered ourselves with the complimentary products, sipped a fresh-pressed juice drink, we showered and robed. We proceeded to an entire room walled with rich colors and Moroccan-styled tile chaise seats. Beautiful abalone bowls containing three types of therapeutic cleansed mud of different earthy colors. The desert clays were infused with essential oils, that we self-applied as the dry heat hissed into the room. Our hostess had a soothing voice and the Indian soundtrack led us into inhalation therapy, accompanied by a traditional Chumash narrative. Our hostess came around spraying scented cool water, if we were needing relief from the heat. Afterwards we sprayed off the mud in the showers just outside of the room and settled in our robes at a private area just outside. As we lounged we nibbled on small plates of fruit and flavored waters and marveled about the extraordinary experience.Communal sessions - $85.00 per personWe paid an extra $20 for use of the pool, facilities and spa, which was well worth it.
Beautiful scene, challenging course. Carts do have GPS yardage displays. Great driving range and pro shop. Helpful staff. Great experience.
I have been in Ojai for 4 days while attending a conference. I have to confess that I am no golfer and I did not use the spa. But I was dreaming of being a golfer because the grounds are just unbelievable beautiful in a very natural way with real delicate and fragrant blossoms and happy birds flying all around. The mornings were beautiful, the evenings were astounding, the food was totally not for a weight loss diet, so tasty, hard to resist, especially that it was cooked in a healthy way. The spa was a definite attraction, but i did not have the time. A pleasure to be there even it is just to relax and walk and read books.
This golf course if beautiful, alot of great views of the mountains and the rolling landscape. The Inn itself is a very beautiful building thats sets a nice scene when you first arrive. The golf carts are top notch, you can use them for everything from calling the pro shop to ordering yourself lunch and to checking out each hole prior to teeing off. If you start heading in the wrong direction the golf cart will notify you of that as well ( going as far as shutting your cart off if you go on the green or in a restricted area!) There water stations actually serve for cold refreshing water since it gets super hot up as well as chilled fruit. we met a few celebrities while cruising the course so that was a bonus. Beware that the course is no easy feat its got some very difficult spots. Have fun and enjoy!
landscape is awesome and challenging course. for any golfer its a must do there have been many famous people here on the course. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Ask if theres a 2nd round of play for $10.00 sometimes if its a slow day day they will offer that special.
