Santa Cruz Fairgrounds is a fun place to go. We have gone to the county fair there; held each September. We have enjoyed going to horse shows here as well. Each Friday there is Ocean Speedway - a fun way to spend a Friday night at the races. Its a historic fairgrounds - started in 1885. There is also at the fairgrounds the Agricultural History Project and Exhibits. Fun to see as well.Parking is at the fair grounds.
Great mud track and professional drivers. Very fun way to spend the evening at the Ocean Speedway at the fairgrounds when in season. We traveled down from Washington state to go to races while visiting family. THOUGH we did forget our earplugs but were able to purchase some there for $3 a pair. Well worth it as it gets pretty loud.
The Santa Cruz County (Watsonville) fairgrounds is a clean, well maintained facility for the County Fair, Horse Shows and Musical Events. There is also a stock car racing track on the grounds. The Fair is well done and is local oriented. The Horse shows are run by local groups and attract people from all over California, with a focus on local talent and the musical events are a mixed bag of small to medium events. I have participated in the horse shows for about 35 years and the facility is clean and functional with enough rings to permit safe, and challenging competition. The stock cars make a bunch of noise, but it's in keeping with the old style atmosphere of the fairgrounds and only happens once a week in the summer. The fair itself, is a classic and well worth visiting.
Fun to go to a small fair where people know each other and the emphasis is on local entries instead of commercial booths.
We go to the County Fair each year and look forward to all the activities presented. Love the horse arena, the food!!, the exhibits, etc. Other times of the year they have stock car racing, quilt fair, Christmas boutique, Historical Society events, gorgeous flowers and much more.
Mostly known for its annual fair but the grounds host a dirt racetrack with a seasonal schedule for loyal fans and racers. Outdoor amphitheatre for small venue possibilities of music & entertainment. Seperate halls for displays or other activities. Little league ballpark. Horse arena and some on-site camper hook-ups. New Hall with restored antique bar just opened. All reasonably priced to enjoy.
Our Santa Cruz Co Fair is by far the best and have been attending for over 30 years. Well organized and a special thanks to the volunteers to help make the Fair a success.
Enjoyed walking around the many vendors shopping and eating tasty treats such as carmel apples covered in chocolate. We also enjoyed free exhibits and the pony ride.
Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds is an excellent place to attend a county fair ... learn about arigculture, pottery and other items of local interest. Take the opportunity to visit the lovely, restored historic Rodgers House on the fairgrounds site.
I went to the Wines and roses Chartiy show and raffle and eat to much and had a great time.
We went to the races at the dirt track - Ocean Speedway - located inside the fairgrounds. Fairgrounds had a lot of permanent really cool looking buildings that surely have been there awhile. We may come back for the fair sometime. We enjoyed the races, the food, and the people were all very nice. Parking was close and fine too! Just wish our friend we drove 3 hrs to watch race had had a better night. He sure had a cool looking modified.
Great fun at the Santa Cruz county fairgrounds every Friday nite. When its day light savings time its race season. Some Sat. nights too. So for some fun go camping in the redwoods in the hills above the track at Mt. Madonna state park or at the ocean at the two other state parks, they are close to the track. Its not too loud and they have the best food at the track. Sprint cars on dirt at Ocean Speedway.
