The hiking trails here are well marked and easy, not very steep. There are wonderful views of the whole south and central Bay Area as well as nice trails through the oak woodland. The Earthquake Trail is my favorite. It follows the San Andreas Fault, which runs through the area. Bring water. The parking is free. Not bathroom, but there are some in the parking lot just across at the Monte Bello Preserve.
If interested in seeing an earthquake fault area while in the San Francisco Bay area, then this is a good park to go to. We enjoyed walking/hiking through the park. It was a hot day so do bring water with you if you go on a similar type day.Parking is in a free lot by the trail area.Be aware - in summer poison oak is quite active in this area so be sure you know what it looks like if you are unfamiliar with it (we are - but we did see a fair amount of it in the area but its safe to hike if you know to stay away from it.)
What a great thing about the Bay Area -- all this open space! Enjoy the beautiful hikes and views, beautiful oak trees and absolute silence. Worth the windy drive, but do take water and a sweater as it can get windy.
