We were passing through Ladysmith, Wisconsin and suddenly came upon the most unique structure which stood out as very unusual in architecture for the type of city in which it resided. We discovered a lovely art gallery with phenomenal prints and pictures and all sorts of glass works and many more items to look at, enjoy and purchase at very reasonable prices. In addition there was a small but extremely tasty restaurant within the gallery which offered delicious pastries and breads as well as light lunches. It was an amazing thing to find in the heart of the Wisconsin farmland and should you find yourself in the area, drop in for a delightful look see. The establishment is called Toad House and it was a rare find.P Peddicord

I was in Ladysmith on Friday & bought cinnamon rolls with raisins (& other baked goods, including poppy seed filled kipferl and German lemon torte) at the Toad House. I enthusiastically recommend the Toad House, which has the best baked goods in the area! With inherited European recipes they use ingredients one would use at home -- no preservatives or dough conditioners -- as well as local artisan cheeses, coffee, maple syrup, art, poetry, cultural events and more. Toad House is an endeavor with the good of the community as its focus.
