I was a little hesitant to visit this museum at first (since I didn't really know too much about the Arabia), but I am SOOO glad that I went. It was extremely interesting and the exhibits of the artifacts that were discovered are mind-boggling! It is so hard to believe that all of those items were found 132 years later. We have actually been there the last two years since others in our group had never been there. It was just as interesting the second time around! One of the men who actually discovered the Arabia was there to tell us about his exhibition and answered questions as well. That was really neat. Put this museum on your list of things-to-do in KC! You won't regret it.

This is a fun place for the family. The riverboat was found near my town where I live (Parkville, MO) and the family literally dug it up and made a museum out of the riverboat. It's a neat piece of history and the River Market area is a fun place to walk around, especially on weekends when alot of venues are out in display there.

I took my daughter, whom is in grade school, to this exhibit. She was fascinated by the artifacts that were displayed, nevertheless intrigued by the history of digging up the steamboat. The tour was well worth the time and money to learn a little bit about the history of this Missouri River steamboat.

This is such a neat find, great story and wonderful people. So much care and time have been invested into this gem of a museum. Take a step back in time with the countless artifacts painstakingly preserved. My mind is blown by the countless tiny beads and buttons and the amazing boots and glassware. For $15 we spent about an hour and half in the museum, could have spent longer if you wanted to. We had the pleasure of speaking to one of the original treasure hunters. Everyone working at the museum was very knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable.

A 1853 Steamboat sinks in the Missouri River in September of 1856. It goes down with over 200 Tons of treasure. Well some say a 1856 Walmart. Everything from Pickles to shoes, clothing, tools, building supplies. I was fastinated with all the artifacts, well laid out displays. I highly encourage you to visit this museum.

The museum is an absolute marvel. Viewing items from so long ago and in such great condition is amazing. They have done an amazing job of research and it makes the past come alive. I would recommend this for the young and old. So much to see and learn.

This museum is so interesting just because there is nothing else like it. A whole ship that gets buried on the river with everything on it and it is recoverd in tact. Very cool and interesting if you are a history buff.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the exhibits and all the work that went into collecting and categorizing the artifacts. Glad I found out about the perils of navigating the Mighty Mo.

I've visited this place many times since it first opened. I've been to almost all the museums in Kansas City and this is my favorite. One of the most unusual museums I've ever visited.

The Arabia Steamboat gives EVERYONE, young and old alike a snapshot back in time to view what the everyday people in the Midwest were buying at a general store. After the viewing of the short film and the exit door opens, you truly step back in time to see all the general goods that the Arabia was carrying. This exhibit is a MUST SEE for everyone! It's an extraordinary exhibit which will fascinate adults and children, alike....We are very fortunate to have this exhibit in Kansas City.

We are glad you enjoyed your tour. We understand the desire to go at your own pace in a museum, but we also agree that the artifacts are much more interesting in context!

This is a fun little museum that tells the story of a steamboat that went down in the Mo river and was excavated by some locals.
