Bought 6 bottles from a very nice lady taster. Went there after visiting Hollywood Casino. Tried the Mulled Wine, which is warm red wine with cinnamon and mulled spices. Ive had Grog and it was a lot like Grog. Good mix of whites and red, yet pours were 1 oz, enough to coat the bottom of the glass. Very near Charles Town WV, I would highly recommend it for a day of wine tasting in the North Valley. Most bottles near or under $20. My new pet peave for wine tasting fees: if I buy 6, I should have the tasting fee waived ($7)? That is my new project to convince wineries to waive fees if I waive the glass or buy wine. Hope you agree.
Very nice Cabernet, beautiful view and great outdoor fire pits.Staff was very helpful and willing to allow small taste to choose wine to drink.
The wine at Veramar are pretty good, and the grounds have plenty of space in doors and out for socializing. Our tasting was a bit rushed as our host seemed to be trying to get us out before a large group arrived for a reserved tasting. Once the bus load of drunks arrived carrying their plastic cups from the bus, it was time to go. It was a shame, as this would be a nice place to relax.
Had a lovely visit at this beautifully winery last week! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the tasting was very well done. While they have several nice wines, it didn't take long to pick my favorite...the Seyval Blanc is a nice crisp white that was perfect for sipping on their gorgeous patio overlooking the valley. Well worth an extra few miles across the Shenandoah!
My husband and I love Veramar. We have become estate members. We enjoy coming to Veramar for our 2 free tastings and usually spend money on the food as well. The staff has always been friendly, knowledgable and accommodating, even when busy. It's always a good experience, even when bringing children.
A wedding was about to take place but we got a few minutes to do a full tasting and enjoy the view. The service was impeccable and the wine variety was delicious.
We attended a wedding at Veramar this weekend and it was so well done and just simply beautiful. The setting has an outstanding view and the service was well done. The staff was always nearby and very helpful. The food was delicious and the wine was outstanding as well. I bought a bottle to take home and can't wait to go back for a tasting.
Our second stop was at Veramar Winery. Friday is the day to go if you like an uncrowded atmosphere. Noah poured our tasting and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He suggested other stops we should make along on mini wine tour. Lovely location and great atmosphere.
Love going to vineyards/wineries in areas I visit. This was my first visit to Winchester, VA and we started roaming and found Veramar. Our first impression was good from the beginning because the signage to get there was done well. (I'm amazed how difficult some are to find due to lack of signage.) The property was engaging and well landscaped and hardscaped. We walked in and were greeted warmly by Noel and made to feel very welcome. The tasting room was nicely done with seating and a fireplace blazing. I liked all of the wines in the tasting so well that I ended up buying one of each and joining their wine club. If you're in the area I highly recommend a visit. You won't be disappointed.
We randomly chose a vineyard, and were very pleased at our choice. Beautiful view...would be so gorgeous in the spring or summer. All of the wine was so delicious. We bought 2 bottles...Rooster Red(as a gift) and the dessert wine. Noel was very sweet!!!!
My wife and I have visited a couple of times. Beautiful setting and a great place to spend a serene afternoon with some very good wine. Tasting is $10 per person (reasonable); this time we opted to just buy a bottle of "Rooster Red" for $28 (also reasonable). Would recommend, however, that you bring your own picnic basket, vice buy bread/cheese/salami etc. on site.
My husband and I have been club memeber for quit some time and we usually enjoy ourselves very much however on our last visit this past weekend, we were very disappointed. We came in to pick up our quarterly shipment and were greated right away however thats where the greatness stopped. The young lady that helped us was very friendly but she was just to busy. The older women behind the counter was just plan rude. When asked questions by other employees her answers to them were oh well, and I don't know. She was taking the wine the young girl was using and emptying the bottles which was causing the girl to have to open new ones while trying to give tastings and sell glasses and other products. She was working her butt off and getting treated rudely by the staff all at the same time. What would normally take us about 30 minutes for a tasting and pickup took us almost one hour. There was an event going on however those guest had already been taken care of when we entered the winery. Also, several bottles of wine that were opened were bad and when the young lady tried to get help from what we called Moody Judy she was told to go ask someone else. This is the worst visit we have ever had. I canceled my membership because my daughter is graduating college and it is over a 4 hour drive for us on a normal basis but had my visit been a little better, I may have changed my mind as I did with the other one I was going to cancel.
My two grown daughters and I spent a lovely couple of hours on the patio with a glass of wine after doing a tasting tour. The wines are quite good and the vineyard has won awards for their offerings. Friendly staff and beautiful area. Reasonable cost; however their desert wine, which is quite good, is mislabled as 750ml in a 375ml bottle. It is also more money than the other wines. Hopefully they will correct this misleading offering. Would still recommend this vineyard.
We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at Veramar. The views are beautiful, and there are a variety of quiet, comfortable places to sit with a glass of wine or have a small picnic--tables on the stone patio or along the pine hedge, a large swinging bench by the pond, or a white gazebo with a view of the valley. The tasting room is spacious and welcoming, and also has a seating area. The wines were good--especially the rose and whites. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, and fortunately it wasn't too crowded. We sat at a table shaded by an umbrella, and had a small picnic we brought with us, and then did the wine tasting. We have been to several vineyards and wineries in this area, and Veramar is probably one of our new favorites.
My husband and I visited Veramar Vineyards hoping to find a nice wine or two. We ended up walking away with much more than that! After sampling several wines (most of which were wonderful), we were told that we could purchase a glass or bottle of wine to enjoy on the large patio. We also had the option of purchasing cheese, salami and/or bread, or having someone grill us a portabella mushroom sandwich. (I believe that the grilling is either on Saturdays or Weekends only.) What more could a girl want? My husband and I then proceeded to take our cheese and wine to the patio, and enjoy! This was such a wonderful and relaxing experience! The view of the field behind the winery is beautiful and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. I sent pictures to my friends while we were enjoying our wine and they all asked, “Where is that?”I told my husband that we will definitely visit Veramar Vineyards again! As an FYI, anyone who partakes of the sampling or drinking of the wine will be carded. No matter what your age, be sure to bring your ID; you don’t want to leave it behind and miss out on an excellent time!
