What a great place. Watch candy as it is being made in the kitchen-then sample goodies before making purchases. A wide variety of delicious fudges and candies to choose from makes the choices difficult! The truffles are works of art and the best! The one drawback is no online sales to the public
Tucked away in Meadows of Dan, Virginia, is the pristine clean Nancy's Candy Company! What a beautiful assortment of choices. From fudge, truffles, to dipped pretzels, toffee, and Jelly Bellys, this is a wonderful showroom. The specialized chocolates are simply amazing. Samples are available and the kitchen windows let you watch the cooks preparing various types of goodies! There are special discounts with some purchases. Nancy herself came out front and visited with us. She is an itty bitty woman-she must be careful about taste testing!!!
This was a fun little place to visit and the chocolates were really delicious. We did not visit while the factory was active but it was interesting to see the equipment through the large glass windows. I highly recommend a quick stop at Nancy's! (The bathroom was filthy. Stick with the chocolates!)
You can eat it there or watch them make it for you to go, your choice. Great chocolate, delicious nuts, wonderful flavors, and the taste that takes you back to when you was a kid.
This is a favorite stop of mine while I'm in the area. There is so much to choose from. This visit we sampled several varieties of truffles and a few of the bark offerings. Will always stop in while passing thru.
My family and I visited Nancy's Candy on a cold, rainy day in August. As soon as we walked I felt warm, cozy and happy. The staff here is extremely friendly! They offered us a few samples and I ended up buying several truffles and all sorts of chocolate covered items. The fudge was delicious and every truffle I bought was amazing. We will definitely return when we are in the area.
I stopped here at Nancy's Candy Company on my way back to Ohio. I bought a couple of pieces of fudge and two pieces of this buttered caramel chocolate with vanilla sea salt. I'm not a big fudge person, but the fudge was quite delightful. The buttered caramel chocolate...that is where is at for me. It was divine. Simple, but divine. I really wish that you could order online without being wholesale. If I ever make it back to Virginia, I may have to make a special trip. It is well worth the stop; especially, if you are a chocolate lover.
Delicious candy right off the parkway, perfect place to visit with children. They freely give samples and are very helpful when looking for a certain flavor. The back of the store is the factory and you can watch through glass as they mix, pour, and package the fudge. This is so interesting for children to watch (and us adults too). They have sugar free selections, truffles, suckers and character specific candy for kids. If you are traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway and have Mabry Mill on your itinerary, this is worth a stop on that day. Can't wait to go back!
The selection was out of this world! The price for the fudge was very reasonable. The service was a bit slow but they were very busy on the Sunday afternoon we visited. Worth the trip!
A heaven for sweet/ chocolate lovers, every kind of chocolate you can imagine, the chocolate covered Pretzel sticks are divine but with a huge choice its so hard to decide. The staff are very friendly and will give tasters on request. please visit
Went here on April, 27 2014 for the first time. This is the biggest selection of candy and fudge I have ever seen. I tried their maple nut fudge and it was fresh and some of the best I have had. Will definitely go back and try more flavors so if you are up that way on your motorcycle or in a car drop in. You wont regret it.
I am a lover of all things chocolate and Nancy's has the very best fudge and chocolate candies I've ever seen. The selection is out of this world and the staff always go out of their way to make my small children laugh every time. Excellent customer service which is hard to come by these days.
Someone brought us a box of these chocolates and they are so good!! Maybe too good because I am making excuses to pass through the kitchen (where the chocolates are!) to have a bite :)
The chocolates are excellent. My favorite is the dark chocolate covered caramel with sea salt sprinkled on top. The chocolates are made by a small firm the next county south are are consistently excellent. I do not care for jelly beans or fudge but they have all that too. I have bought there at least a couple dozen times.
Nancy's occupies a whole end parcel of land in Meadows of Dan and attached to their huge factory is a fairly decent sized candy store selling hard candies, jelly beans, fudges, chocolate covered spoons in a dozen flavors for hot chocolate, chocolate pretzels and potato chips and seasonal displays that make it a hot spot in the small town. You grab basket and off you go. Last weekend there were 6-8 ladies all smiling and wiling to let you sample a small something. White chuck chocolate were available for sampling too. Even if you're not candy lover, it's a visual delight and you can find small packages of chocolate covered raisins, sunflower-seeds and cranberries to use as a small gift. The door area cites many articles and awards that the candy factory has received across the region. They ship anywhere and we visited twice in our short stay.
