This venue was one of the best I've been to. The performers were awesome. (Cody Canada and the Departed) the sound was perfect and the seating was great. The volunteers were Friendly and helpful. We had a great time!
We went to see Mark and Maggie O'Connor in what was billed as an evening of American Classics. We were not disappointed. The center itself is easy to access, right in the middle of Rocky Mount. The seats are comfortable, and the room can be reconfigured to accommodate a small concert such as the one we attended, and the sound system was crystal clear. Mark and Maggie O'Connor are virtuoso fiddlers and violinists, whose current mission is to promote the richness and diversity of American music as a basis for studying violin. The pieces they chose to play were stylistically diverse, but shared a couple of traits. One was the beauty of the melody. The second was the stunning musicianship. A rare treat.
The Harvester Performance Center is a dream come true for music lovers and musicians alike! The acoustics are impeccable, the lighting and sound expertly managed. The seating is so comfortable - lots of leg-room and wide, deeply cushioned seats unlike any other venue. The music program is broad, many shows to choose from, with carefully curated offerings. Food options included (on the night we attended) what may have been the best cupcake I've eaten. The house was full, the audience enthusiastic yet respectful of the performers (we all came for the music!!) helped to bring out the best in the performers. Wow! What a gem, conveniently located in charming Rocky Mount, VA!
We have been to 4 concerts total--very efficient, friendly place to enjoy incredible music! They serve snacky food, serve wine and beer, and have (upon occasion) the most decadent looking cupcakes--we thought people were eating ice cream sundaes! the quality of the performers is getting better and better. At the most recent concert there were issues with the sound system that were IMMEDIATELY taken care of. Just a great, relaxed place to enjoy a musical performance.
The Harvester is run by the townsfolk and it shows that they care. Well kept craft beers on tap, people on hand specifically to welcome visitors and to help and answer questions. Sofas along the sides in the auditorium, plenty of room on the main seats. Excellent sound reproduction on the two nights we went and faultless stage management. What a gem for a small town with a big heart.
The Harvester promotes top quality shows from many styles of musicians. Prices are reasonable; the seating is comfortable & everyone has a good view of the stage. Log onto their website-it's easy to use & you can look for the type of music you enjoy. The staff is helpful & very friendly. I've been to 5 shows so far & can't wait to return. The Bacon Brothers & The Carolina Chocolate Drops have been my favorites so far...
Seeing Kevin Bacon perform here was fun. Not a bad seat in the house. I thought the sound systems for the band members when they were speaking were out of whack but for the music it was fine. Would go back again. Fair pricing. Parking a bit of a terror- grab anywhere on any street you can find a spot and expect to walk a few blocks in to the center. Nice, new and modern, sleek design, comfortable, spacious seating. Not a hillbilly hangout, you can expect a more upscale crowd. Safe streets to walk through, friendly staff, convenient to 220. Check out the Bootlegger Cafe across the street for amazing smelling and tasting good before or after.
This is the perfect fit of music for the Crooked Road. This small venue allows up to around 500 people and is an intimate yet big sound experience. I enjoyed the experience of good Ole country music with Marty Stewart and the Fabulous Superlatives. They were amazing! The feel of the facility is friendly and their is food and drink available. The most difficult thing is parking. There is not a lot in Rocky Mount, so arrive early and park at the Bank, Library or Farmer's Market. Worth visiting!
This new theater is a great all purpose venue. We attended concerts on two nights and they were great.
I attended a concert of a local bluegrass group here that was very talented and it was the first time I had visited the performance center. When I arrived I was extremely surprised that for the last year I've been missing some of acoustic and bluegrass' best acts performing here ( Lonesome River Band, Sam Bush, etc.). I was even more surprised how great the sound was, and how up close and personal I could get. The concessions were reasonable and I could even have a beer. I'll definitely be coming back and telling my friends about this venue gem.
We drove over 3 hours to see a show here and will do it again. The Performance center is super nice and the sound and accommodations, not to mention the Volunteers are excellent. We were very impressed with the whole experience.
Went to this performance center September 16th. I had never heard of Rocky Mount VA much less theHarvester Performance Center. I understand renovations had been done on the building and I mustsay they have done a very good job. Seats were very comfortable and sound system was great. We also had the opportunity to buy food and drinks. We bought VIP tickets and were given thechance of a meet and greet with the performers Byrne and Kelly from the group Celtic Thunder. The staff of volunteers were so helpful and friendly. Parking was easy. You can park acrossthe street where the farmer's market is or beside the building in a bank parking lot. I wouldhighly recommend going to see anyone in this performance center. It is around 28 milesoutside of Roanoke but the roads are in excellent shape. It is an intimiate venue but well worth thetrip.
I was totally surprised when my husband and I went to a show here. I'm not a bluegrass or country fan, so I jumped when I saw a great and well-known rocker from my hay day performing. The all-volunteer staff was so accommodating to my ambulatory challenges and provided us great seats so I could elevate my leg. Love the comfy living room setting next to the stage. What was really phenomenal was the sound system. I am a long time city girl, born and raised, and moved to rural Rocky Mount six years ago or so. Never did I dream of having such happiness with music here. The acts they are attracting are diverse and fit just about anyone's taste each month. Before opening, the talk 'in town' was the concern it wasn't going to be the bluegrass 'come and pick' variety of music. And pleasantly, they were right--it is so much more! I'm so grateful it is right down the street!
We went to the Harvester to see The Bacon brothers (Kevin Bacon) and his older Brother.and the following night we saw the Mavericks. The venue is lovely, the staff are really friendly, you can buy snacks and alcoholic drinks. The sound system is excellent. We were not driving a car, but there seemed to be quite a few places to park. It was an all round really good visit. We stayed also at the Early Inn at the Grove, which is a short walk to the performance centre. The gorgeous lady Keri, who is the Inn keeper, looked after us really well, she made sure that we had everything we needed, catered to our every need and was a wonderful hostess... We come from Australia but will deffo go back to Rocky Mount to the Harvester.
we were 1 of only 2 couples that bought VIP tickets. i won't do that again however, it did save us from having to wait in line. it did give us a complementary drink private photo opps with the band and they took the pic for us then sent them. the only other bad i can see is sometimes long lines wait outside to enter the show which seems unnecessary. the good is EXCELLENT SOUND SYSTEM. no bad seats in the house. the harvester staff do everything in their power to make your experience enjoyable a totally customer focused staff. they have snacks beer and soda. this is a 1st rate facility well run, well staffed. our show was also excellent however the harvester has little control of the performers i think it is unfair to blame them if the performances are short or subpar. if the performers want to be good they have absolutely every component from the harvester to do so. the town of rocky mount is the builder and owner of the harvester I THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD IDEA. the job these guys do has changed my mind GOOD JOB GUYS !!!!!!
