Model train layouts from G scale to tiny T. Loads of railroad memorabilia. Nice room with vintage photographs of the Santa Fe facilities that were once in Brownwood. Vintage restored caboose and dining car that you can tour. On Saturdays there is a miniature live steam train that take kids on rides around their outdoor park. Well worth the time.

very educational place...love the history and displays. Like the area, where it's at and parking. overall, a nice place to visit. brought back lots of memories of riding a train with my grandparents.

The Lehnis Railroad Museum is located across the street from the Santa Fe Depot and Visitors Center. The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturday and has a reasonable entrance fee. The large, high-ceiling building is filled with well-maintained exhibits of Santa Fe Railroad artifacts, railroad lantern and telegraph equipment, historical pictures, dining car dishes, and a number of working model trains of all sizes in outstanding dioramas. There are also kids play areas and interactive exhibits. Parked outside are a caboose and lounge car, which can be toured. I understand that first Saturday of the month is Family Day, with special programs. A great place to visit with the family.
