There is a reason that the Azalea Trails are one of the top rated attraction for Tyler - they are simply astounding in their beauty. While the flowers themselves are the star, the homes that display them are to be commended also. Flashes of multiple colors in immaculate home gardens.Words do no justice - just like seeing mountains in person.
Beautiful old homes. The brick streets are awesome. Make it a point to visit during the spring so you can see the azaleas in bloom and don't forget to take your camera. Best of all this is free!
Driving through this lovely old and very large neighborhood is a pleasure even when the azaleas are not in bloom. This is Tyler's historic home area, and many of these old homes exude Southern charm. They range in size from quaint cottages to medium sized mansions.Check dates for Tyler's annual Azalea Trails. During this time these neighborhoods are crowded with visitors viewing the gardens both on foot or cruising slowly past in cars.
Every year, the azaleas bloom in Tyler for about a two week span in late March and early April. The historic Azalea district becomes a springtime beauty that is well worth seeing. For the last two years I have taken a tour down the 10 miles of trails in the Tours of Tyler van and it seems to just get more and more spectacular. Some of the historic homes are tourable and the ladies at the chamber of commerce welcome all who come in for information. See it at least once in your life.
During March or April the Azalea's are in full bloom along with the tulips and other blooming bulbs. Tourist come from all around to see this explosion of colors and to take pictures. It is WELL worth the trip. AND IT IS FREE
