Skip Wall Drug and go here for some fascinating conversation with a Forest Service ranger. A real learning experience for the whole family with plenty of exhibits, maps, and information sources. We spoke to 2 different rangers who made great suggestions for "off the beaten path" excursions...
This is not how we thought of Wyoming - 3 million acres of rolling grassland! Driving through on our way to South Dakota, we enjoyed the different type of scenery than we had been seeing in other parts of the state. Lots of antelope and birds. Very little traffic, too, which was nice. Overall, a pleasant, peaceful drive.
Driving through here is amazing...all that grass, and all that open space. It has to be a huge surprise for anyone who hasn't lived in Wyoming before.
Be it camping, hunting, or birding (sage grouse) you will finf the grasslands a wonderful place to be. Plus, there's a hotel and 50's diner plopped right on the edge in Bill....see Oak Tree Inn..
we volunteered here for several years (my daughter re-discovered the Baird's sparrows thought extinct in area)all roads very rural and rough- not generally useful for low clearance sedans or minivans (we have off-road equipped jeep), no facilities at all- most people pass through on highway without even realizing they are in reserve... lots of prairie dogs, pronghorn (they are not antelope!), and birds of prey... good spot for mountain ploverswas nice to visit again after several years gone
Gefallen hat uns die endlose Prärie, in der man sich als Mensch noch als Individium fühlt.
