When we went we took our then 2 year old grandson. Although it meant little to him at the time, the carvings were awesome.
Over the years it has changed a little bit. Now there are fences around the petroglyphs and they recently put in a walking path. It is really beautiful out there. You are in the wild so it might not hurt to take a form of defense with you. I haven't ever had to use my gun but it is better to be safe than to be some creatures lunch. Fences were put up around the petroglyphs to keep the vandals out and the walking path is nice instead of having to hunt around for them all. It is great for the whole family. There are no facilities and you will need to bring your own water.
One of the best petroglyph sites in Wyoming. Very unusual images with lots of shields. Located in a little draw surrounded by gorgeous HooDoo filled hillsides. Great colors, especially at the end of the day!
You need to be a true adventurer to get to this place. This place is amazing. They have old Indian petroglyph's that have been there for hundreds of years. The rock formations are incredible. You definitely will need a good vehicle to get to this place though I did see a Prius on our way out. It is all unimproved roads to get there, but the awe of nature is definitely witnessed here. There are upgrades being completed now and it looked like they were working on bathroom facilities, but currently nothing is there right now. There is a trail that takes you through the formations and by the petroglyph's. A very quiet place. There was only a couple of other people out there when we went.
