My husband is from the area so while we were down visiting family, he decided that my Valentine's gift would be whatever I selected from here. The Trading Post is in the building next to the restaurant and gift shop. The store is full of gorgeous hand-crafted Native American jewelry, baskets and knick-knacks. Each one has a tag attached to it with the name of the crafts person who made it and the tribe they belong to. You can look them up on their site to see a photo and bio of each artist. This is not cheap junk made in another country but passed off as "real" Native American jewelry. This is the real stuff and it's GORGEOUS!While we were there, a man brought in a hand-made basket to sell to them. They aren't paying these artists just a few dollars and taking advantage of them. I was impressed that they are paying them fairly for their work. This is quality work by people who make their living as artists and crafters. I walked around the store about 10 times looking at everything. Of course, my eye kept falling on the 4 digit items - LOL But, I finally settled on a beautiful necklace finely woven in silver wire. I was impressed when I got home and read the bio of the artist. She doesn't use solder - each link in the chain and the woven pendent is secured with just the silver itself. It's a piece that will become a family heirloom.
A nice store in the small town of Bluff Utah, which sold a large variety of souvenirs and artefacts.
Nice spot on the way to sightseeing the southwestern United States! Good food, gift shop and photo opportunities for all visiting this small community in the middle of the way. Good place to stop to relax, take a breathe and a few photos. It was funn.
Suggested by the owner at the Kokopelli Inn we decided to give it a try. Diner, Hmmm, not very promising. We arrived to find a friendly staff anxious to please. After two weeks on the road we craved something other than greazy, high Calory road food. What we got was very much like home cookin'. Good home cookin'! Breakfast was just as good the next day. Watch out for that Navajo fry bread. It is so good that you could become addicted!
We have visited this museum-like shop several times in the past and have occasionally purchased items . It is not a bargain basement, but the quality of everything here is in line with the prices. I wander through this shop just as I would pass through a museum and I enjoy looking at artwork that I cannot afford. On this visit I found a beautiful silver bracelet for my wife that featured typical rock art images from this area. It was very reasonably priced.Anyone in the area of Bluff, Utah should stop here, even if only to look. The staff are very friendly to browsers. I consider this a very special place and I am not an addicted shopper.
This was a restaurant and shop! Had a casual restaurant with extremely friendly and helpful servers! And, food was delicious! They had a great souvenir shop at other end of building with nice gifts! We had dinner and then went back for breakfast the next morning.
Always hit Twin Rocks. Good food, better-than-average local merchandise, decent area information. Stretch your legs, get a cuppa, & get ready for all the local San Juan County outdoor adventures here. Some great foto opps right from the parking lot.
Wonderful Indian arts and crafts---museum quality---most are local and unique. Steve is working with me to have a local folk artist carve a piece similar to one he owns. The Twin Rocks Trading Post is the "real deal" and a "must see" if you appreciate Indian art or crafts. There is plenty of parking and the Twin Rocks café/gift shop is next door.
We have been visiting Twin Rocks Trading Post for well over a decade... with each visit, our appreciation of the place and the people increase. The staff - Barry, Steve, and Priscilla - are the real thing, raised in Bluff and raised in "the trading post business." They know personally many (most?) of the native artists who have produced the items in the post... their support of and encouragement to these wonderful artists should be a model to all in similar enterprises. Whenever we have made a purchase from Twin Rocks, we have felt sure that (1) 100% authentic, (2) it was absolutely top quality, (3) it was priced fairly, and (4) the artist was well compensated for her/his work. Over the years, our visits have resulted in something of a friendship with the good people of Twin Rocks Trading Post... each time we return it's as if we've "come home."
Made a stop here during a group motor coach tour. Was very impressed with the quality of the local artisans. Silver, turquoise, bollos, some leathers, and many other Native American items. The proprietor can give you details on each piece. All items one of a kind. Send your husband next door to the little diner while you give everything a once over. Go thru the elimination process and THEN show him what appeals to you. If you are in the market for good quality pieces at very reasonable prices that don't support a larger retailer mark-up, stop in Bluff. Not much there. You can't miss the store.
Taking the back road in eastern Utah is a joy as you travel through the diverse beauty of the region. But as you roll down the road, don't forget to make a few stops and make sure you include Twin Rocks. The quality of authentic regional art is staggering and the knowledgeable family that runs the gallery will fill you in completely on anything you find interesting. The restaurant is a perfect place to complete your visit. This small stop is definitely worth your time.
A top notch trading post. Real top of the line selections for real collector’s and lovers of Native American art. Real welcoming staff with generations of experience.
We visited Twin Rocks Cafe and Trading Post in August of 2008. We are still talking about our "amazing find" almost a year later. We had taken a ride from the Four Corners to Mexican Hat and Monument Valley, and stopped here for lunch with our four year old. What an amazing place. The cafe was reasonable and the food was good, but the setting could not be beat. We did buy items in the gift shop at the cafe, but were unable to spend the time we would have liked to in the actual trading post. We hope to get back here some day.
If you find yourself in Bluff, Utah (near Monument Valley), be sure and stop in at the Twin Rock Trading Post. The owner and staff are wonderful and they have some of the best Navajo and Native American arts and crafts that we have come across. The prices are competitive, not cheap, but not Santa Fe either. The quality of their items is very high and if nothing else it's a great place to look at beautiful baskets, pottery, jewelry and Native American Folk Art. Do yourself a favor and visit this trading post.
