the river is always going have its natural beauty but it stops at the bank . The park itself has an abandoned look with trash littering the the bank and old park features from 1976 bicentennial that look like they mite be waiting on the tricentennial celebration for future generations to dig up and ask what was this place . A boat yard or a junk yard .
We bring our daughters here every once in a while if we're in the neighborhood. Where the playground is the path & picnic tables are always covered in duck poop, so I wouldn't recommend eating here. The playground equipment is a little outdated. They're definitely better parks in the area.
This park has a nice view of the river, but there are extremely questionable people lurking around. There have been prostitution arrests in the past. I would not go there alone or near dark.
Nice walking path or softball fields if you play within the league. There is also a swinging bridge. Nice river to fish but other than that, it doesn't off much. There is no playground for small children or much for them to do besides feed geese/ducks. There are signs posted asking you not to do this but people do it anyway.
Beautiful park especially for photos and family time. We also went to Domtar Park for a baseball tournament and it is a great sports facility. Too Bad the tournament got rained out!
We used to love coming here, but now there are so many unsavory things that go on here that we just don't go.If you have children I would not deem this a safe area.
We dined in a large group on the patio beside the river. The waitress was quick and funny and so efficient. The coconut shrimp appetizer was large and so yummy. The seafood was fresh, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. A terrific night!
nice and walk the swinging bridge I enjoyed a nice walk. the river makes a great photo in the evening. Great place to bring the kids to play on play grounds.
Its hard to write a fair review of Riverfront Park. One would want to write a nice review, but the others before me pretty much hit the nail on the head. The word nasty pretty much decribes this park and it really is nothing special. On a positive side, those who walk the green belt, pass right through it on their way to the North Fork of the Holston River. The river views are pretty. However, this park draws to it people who probably do not write reviews or who have a computer to see the reviews it gets. It is un supervised and the bikes on the path can be disruptive. I would question its safety in the evening or early morning. If you need a park and a picnic area avoid this place and go to either Bays Mountain or Warriors Path State Park, Both are safe, both have things to do and both are clean.
Greenbelt is accessible at this location and Netherland Inn there too. Very small playground meant for pre-schoolers. Small picnic area. Cross walking bridge to Cherokee Island for fun of exploring that area on foot.
Not many towns offer a scenic walking path along a river front with history and bathroom facilities.
Great little hills for riding a ripstick. Plus, it is right next to the river so it is super pretty.
The park walk way is dirty covered in geese dropings, The bath rooms is NASTY!!!!!! In More Ways Then ONE! DO NOT LET A CHILD GO IN THERE ALONE!!!!!!! Do Not Go There!
