Looking at the website I thought this place would be great place to take a 6 year old child. boy was I wrong. Very small zoo with limited selection of animals. With that being said, half the exhibits didn't even have animals in them. It was a complete waste of time and money. do not go.
We've been to Chattanooga several times and had never been to the Zoo until today. At first, we were slightly disappointed that it was so small; however, we found that there is plenty to see once you get inside and start exploring. I was most impressed with the maintenance of the grounds, landscaping and facilities. We were disappointed that there were no camel rides - we had seen it advertised and the promise of camel rides was a deciding factor of our visit. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed our visit and would reccommend it to anyone in the area.
You can ride camels, what else is there to say. It was a nice size especially for how little the entry fee is. I was expecting it to be smaller.
This is a great little zoo! It is very small but has an unusual variety of animals! It is very clean and everything is very close and easily accessible! We had 3 little ones...7,5 &3. They had a great time!
Zoo was small, but nice. A bit hard to find. Nicely decorated for Haloween. Not incredibly memorable otherwise, just a pleasant hour or two.
This was a great way for the wife and I to enjoy an afternoon walk. Being during the week and the time of year it was, it seemed as if we had the place to ourselves.
My wife and two children spent a day a this zoo a few years ago while it was under some construction. The zoo has just the right mix and amount of animals to give you a feeling of fullness of development and species. But don't come in hungry the vending and food are limited to non existent. I expect our next visit to be an improvement as the zoo is headed in that direction. It will likely be very good rating instead of average next time.
This small zoo has come a long way in the past few years, and is now accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium association. If you are staying in Chattanooga for a few days and are looking for one more attraction to visit after you do everything down by the river, your family will enjoy a zoo visit. It is a little harder to find, about 2 miles away from the riverfront attractions.
Although this zoo is somewhat small compared to other more well known city zoos it was one of the better maintained that I have been to. animals all seemed well cared for and many seemed to enjoy having visitors look at them as they seemed to be interested in looking back at us. takes about 2 hours to go through all the areas. Enjoyed the cats and primates the most.
this is a small zoo but it is quite fun for little ones and if you want to do your birthday party there they are very accommodating...I also like that it is very stroller friendly
I take my honors biology students and Marine Biology Club to the Chattanooga Zoo every year or two. I like the affordability of the zoo and the entire zoo tour can be done in 1-2 hrs. The red pandas are the BEST! So cute, but be prepared that they may be sleeping. Chatt. zoo has exhibits set up by world biomes. For instance, there is a desert section completely indoors that includes reptiles and sand cats (completely adorable). The zoo has exhibits that also feature local flora and fauna. I do like the variety of animals and exhibits the zoo has. I wish they had programs for older students (high school) because my teenage students went through the exhibits quickly. However, the cost is completely affordable. I recommend doubling this experience with the TN Aquarium.
This is a smaller zoo than the ones we have visited in past, but the grounds are kept well staff is friendly and the kids always enjoy seeing animals.
We had a good time at the zoo. It's got a pretty diverse set of animals, so it's a good way to spend half a day or so.
We visited just after New Years on a misty day, but we still had an enjoyable time. If you are looking for large exotic animals, then you will be disappointed with this zoo. However, they did have a wide variety of animals for the price that we paid. It is a well-organized zoo, with certain exhibits being fairly nice for the size of the zoo. It is a very clean place. The only negative was that some of the staff did not seem to happy to be there, but that could have been caused by the dreary weather. Anyway, if you need something cheap to do in Chattanooga or enjoy animals, this is worth the time.
Very small zoo, well maintained & pleasant. My opinion-it's a one time attraction. Not enough there to make it worth visiting again. Great value for those on a budget.
