This Winery has a nice little set up and a large variety of wines. The service was friendly and the wine was unique. A good first stop on our beverage trail.

We stopped by the winery after seeing an ad in the local travel guide while we were going to our hotel after spending the day at Cooperstown. It is a very small winery and only a few tables indoors and a wine tasting area. Wines were modestly priced and a nice variety.

While spending time in the area for a baseball tournament at the All Star Village, me and my husband broke away one day from baseball to enjoy a wine tasting one afternoon. It was very good; I enjoyed the 6 choices, crackers, cheese and chocolates. Very pleasant staff. We left with 3 bottles of the Baseball Merlot which we both liked best (we would have bought more but they ran out lol). We had rented a cabin down the road so we returned another day with our boys just so they could feed the chickens on the property. We bought the Grizzly Bear Burgundy that day and also enjoyed that. Fun experience. I recommend you stop in and visit if you're in the area.

While visiting Cooperstown, N.Y. for a baseball tournament at the Dreams Park, we took a little time to try a wine tasting at the Bear Pond Winery. They offered 2 types of tastings 1) was the usual small taste of 6 wines you select, 2) you select 6 wines of your choice but you get double the wine plus a serving of cheese, wine crackers and chocolates. This is served on a beautiful wrap around stand; it reminded me of the tiers used for a "High Tea." We chose #2, sat outside and truly enjoyed the wines, snacks and view! The staff were very nice and helpful and it was a great experience all the way around.

Not much to look at...not comparable to fingerlakes wineries. ..but pleasantly surprised with great staff and decent wines. Liked the Red Zeppelin myself (not their wine) wife liked the Doubleday...smokey taste.. $3 for 6 wine samples...all be it small tastes...but hey $3. Or can Pay double for a gulp and some snacks. Overall worth stopping if you have time.

Driving down Route 28 en route from Cooperstown to my hotel in Oneonta, I happened upon this small, fun winery. What a discovery! It’s a fairly new winery that opened in 2000. The vineyard is small but grows Riesling, Concord, Niagara and Gewürztraminer grapes. The winery currently purchases some grapes from other New York vineyards. The winery sells its own wines as well as wines from other vintners. The variety of Bear Pond Winery’s own on-premises produced wines is about two dozen. It also has a store with a variety of wine-related and home brewing merchandise. The hours are 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Monday - Sunday. They charge $1.00 per single sample or $3.00 for a flight of six samples. Looking for a fun fruity wine, I tasted the Bear Pond Winery Real Cheap which was made from Niagara and Concord grapes. It was a rosé color. It had a full-bodied flavor with a fruity, slightly sweet finish. It fit the bill. The standard 750 ml bottle was $6.99. I also got a Bear Pond Winery glass as a souvenir at $3.75. With the 8% New York State Sales Tax, the total was $11.60.The staff was very nice. I enjoyed my visit at this developing winery. I hope it continues to grow and prosper because I like the approach to wine-making and the way things are done. When in the Cooperstown-Oneonta area again, I will definitely stop by here. This place is soo cool, all the employees are REALLY friendly, especially the girls :-). Been there twice as we are here for Cooperstown tournament with my Grandson and parents. Joking aside, their wines are excellant, my sons fiance is a coneseur (sp) as she works at a resteraunt/bar back home in Michigan. They have a wine tasting bar which they explain the wine your tasting in full detail. They do make their own and also sell kits for both wine and beer making. On thre cheese side, they suggest what goes best with what you buy....just make sure you have both at the same time to get the full effect. Located about 14 miles from Cooperstown Dream Park....A MUST stop, especially if you need cheese to go with the whinning your doing if your team loses LOL

Great staff, good value and interesting choices. Like the idea you can sit outside and they bring your wine flight out to you. All local cheeses and chocolates to go with the wine.

Very nice place. Can be crowded at time and hard to get to the tasting table. Very good wine selection. Staff very knowledgable! They actually rinse your glass out each time that way you don't get any left over from the previous wine. Very nice supply of brewing supplies as well for home brewers.

Hello Kevin B. Thank you for your kind words. I am however sorry that you were not aware of our production area where we produce 10,000 gallons of wine a year. I would be more than thrilled to give you a tour should you ever stop in again... Once again, thank you for your comments!-Mark

An unexpected find on route into Cooperstown, this winery has a small but nice selection - dry and sweet. The staff was quite pleasant. Great place to stop if you are going to eat at a bring your own eatery in Cooperstown. Prices are not a bargain but you are helping a small thriving business.

They sell food, but this is mostly for adults! As an out of stater staying in Cooperstown we saw this place right off 88 towards Cooperstown. The drive was worth it. They were busy when I got there but when they were able to attend to my husband and I it was worth it.Advising I only drink sweet wine due to allergies and dry wines close up my throat they accommodated to the sweet wines and the taste testing was worth the money. Eva Coo is my best for the sweet wine. The advised us about the Cooperstown Wine/Beer trail. One was closed for the season, but the ride provided some addition wine and beer purchases.

Nice stop right on a main road. The young lady serving the tasting was delightful and full of information. As I'm always looking for someting a little different for a Christmas wine gift, Eva Coo white was a perfect buy. It's a good semi-sweet wine named after the not-so-sweet brother owner & murderer who was executed at Sing Sing. A story with every bottle.

Stopped for the wine tasting, it was kind of busy at the tasting and seemed the folks did not have the time or want to spend the time discuss the wines with us. Overall it was OK. If you are in the area certainly check it out.
