Great starter mountain for kids and children of all ages….located off Rt. 159 heading up the mountain towards Mariaville area.
Great place to bring your whole family for a day or night on the slopes. Wonderful place for kids or beginners to learn to ski.
Best military discount going from a family owned business that cares about the men and women who serve in the armed forces. Great ski experience. Fun for the whole family. Will definitely return.
Psst.... the best place to teach children how to ski. GREAT staff can't say enough about this friendly place. There is a ski lodge for the one family member that tags along w/o any intention of skiing:) There's a snack stand but you should bring your own.
It's not Killington or Vail, but if you're just learning, it's perfect, and close to home if you live in the capital district. My 7 y/o took lessons (once/week for 6 weeks), and is now tearing down the mountain faster than I dare go.
We taught our kids to ski there. Our youngest was a ski instructor there years ago. Great place for kids to learn to ski at a reasonable cost. Very family friendly
I only know how great it is by the fact that our great grandchildren almost live there when there is snow
Well organised and good value. Snack bar is worth a visit as well. It is small so a good skiier may get bored quickly. I enquired about lessons but did not get a very welcome reception because I was part way through the season.
This is a perfect ski resort for the kids to go and learn how to ski. There is nothing not to like about this ski mountain. If you live around this mountain and have kids, don't hesitate, bring the kids!
Maple Ridge has been teaching kids to ski for decades -- it does not pretend to be a "full service ski area". It has about a 300 (?) foot vertical drop--which is great for kids who are new to skiing. It has great child-oriented instructors, who really care about providing good ski instruction and making sure the kids have fun whle they are learning. The cost is minimal compared to larger areas and kids love participating in a ski world that is dedicated to kids!.
My experience with this ski/snowboard venue is through my son. I spent time there watching him on many days. It isn't the big monster ski resorts that exist here. It is a wonderful place for people who love to ski or snowboard without huge crowds. Not a place you would travel a great distance to go to but if you're local it's a great place to go at the drop of a hat.
Not much terrain but great ski school, they have taught three generations of my family. Not a bad little cafeteria too.
Yup, most hills have vertical drop, this place has a vertical rise. Go on a windy day and you can count on not getting down the hill.
If you only want to travel 5 min's from Rotterdam, then this is the place for you. They have bunny trail type hills, good for 1st timers and children.
Small family operated business; therefore if thinking of travelling for a vacation, it would be great for the novice. However, I wouldn't suggest traveling here for a ski vacation if you are very good, because the slopes/runs and variety of activities are limited and the ski area is relatively small. However, it seemed to be popular with the locals. My two teen sons chose to snowboard and decided the next day to take a 1 hour lesson, which was $60 for the both. They say it helped and plus the ski instructor was nice and patient. As a matter of fact, everyone there was very friendly. The food in the lodge was homemade, very good and reasonably priced. Overall, as beginners it was a blast for our family of four.
