James and his team of professionals never cease to amaze and we once again enjoyed an exceptional day of fishing with Brock as our Captain. This year we brought an inexperienced fisherman with us and Brock spent the day tirelessly casting and teaching her the nuances for catching Louisana's delicious Redfish. We ended the day with a delicious "just caught" shore lunch preparred fresh just for us, yummo! Can't wait to do this again.Claude and Nancy Wilson
Visiting Louisiana in early August for charter fishing, for my first time I might add, had me a bit leary. However, I had it on good authority it would be well worth the heat and humidity. I was not disappointed. From our accommodations, our Captain Casey-with his experience, knowledge and great personality, to the owners who genuinely care that your stay is spot on-and should there be any concerns they will correct immediately ( which one mishap did occur and it was immediately addressed) this trip is a must!
The staff and fishing guide Casey Rojas were very good. Fishing was great. The problem that I has was the overpriced lodging and food. My cousin and I visited there came in on 10 Aug 2014 fished 11 and 12 Aug 2014. The lodging and food bill came to $272.50 each for basically two night lodging in a fish camp and food that while good was certainly not up to the price charged. For $272.50 a night we could have stayed at a premier hotel and eaten and fine restaurants at other locations. I typically stay at Hampton Inn and for less than half this price could have gotten far better lodging. When I initially contacted the owner I was given a price of $500 per day for two people. The additional $272.50 per day was not clarified until the time we checked out on 12 Aug 2014. If all you are looking for is fishing then I recommend the place. Do not stay there and eat off of Styrofoam plates for food that while decent is not worth the money charged.
I have an elderly friend who wanted to go red fishing in Louisiana. He wanted to take me because I love to fish, my husband doesn't. So I got online found Griffin Lodge and it was the best descision made. Not disappointed at all. The most fun I have ever had fishing. And yes we went catching!!The first day was a little slow but we got our limit of Reds by noon. The second day, oh wow!!! We had our limit by 8:00 AM!!!! The food was great and the company was too. We were the only two at the lodge for the two days we were there, so we had undivided attention. Capt. Colby was great. He was patient with us and put us on the fish. We will be going again!!!! I would love to take my two sons, they would love it.The best part of the trip was all we had to do was walk on the boat and off the boat. Everything else was taken care of for us. Fish put on board for photos, taken down, cleaned how we wanted them, and bagged and iced.
This is the fifth year we've booked our anniversary fishing trip with Griffin Fishing Charters andCaptain Casey Rojas. It was our best year yet and with the grace of God we'll be back nextyear. It's like fishing with your family and best friends. Captain Casey is the best!! He is friendly, experienced and informative. He definitely knows the waters and how to find the fish and shares his knowledge with you. Everyone at Griffin was friendly and courteous and the food was wonderful! We caught our limit and look forward to some good eating. Hats off to Griffin Fishing Charters and Captain Casey!!!Thanks to all at Griffin!!Howard, Marilyn and Christopher Sarrell
My father in law and I recently booked a charter with Griffin. It was a last minute decision, called Thursday afternoon, were fishing the next morning. Well organized, well kept facility and equipment, and quality tackle. Capt. Casey was our guide and he put us on many redfish. As a professional fisherman his whole life, he knew the waters like the back of his hand. Maybe better. The tide wasn't helping us any, but he kept finding the reds. I came away from this trip a better fisherman than when I arrived. The hospitality and attitudes of everyone there were as wonderful as could be. I'm ready to get home and cook some fish. More than that, I'm ready to come back down, set a hook, and feel a redfish peel off some drag. Absolutely amazing.
My uncle and I had a first rate experience with Griffin Fishing Charters. Brock was our guide and he made every accommodation necessary to ensure we enjoyed our trip. Up for the day, and with both breakfast and lunch included, there was nothing to take but a cooler to haul our catch back home. Griffin has accounted for everything including rods and tackle, cleaning the fish, and even drinks on the boat. Primarily fishing in Little Lake out of Jean Lafitte, LA, Brock monitored our progress and the activity of the fish. We moved to three separate locations, hitting a "honey hole" where we pulled in most of our catch. We enjoyed the trip out on the lake and Brock was extremely knowledgable and personable. We'd certainly recommend him and look forward to fishing with him again. account for and our limit of Red fish
My husband joined me on a business trip to New Orleans in mid-January and the one request he had was to go charter fishing while we were there. After doing research on the best charter company, I chose Griffin and I am SO glad that I did. Griffin Fishing Charters and Capt. Casey truly gave us the experience we were looking for. Everyone from the owners to our Captain to our driver at Griffin was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable that my husband and I both felt that in addition to great fishing, we also learned so much more about the area. Even in the middle of Winter, we thoroughly enjoyed our scenic boat ride to our fishing spots and learning to fish the LA waters. We both caught our limit, and Capt. Casey cleaned and cut our fish per our request to have it shipped home. We have been loving eating our Red Fish using the cooking tips they gave us since we got home and we will absolutely make sure to fish with Griffin Fishing Charters on our next trip to New Orleans!
I would highly recommend Griffin Fishing Charters. I have went on two different chartered fishing trips with two seperate guides, both guides were magnificent. The rooms are nice, clean, and very comfortable. The hospitality at Griffin Fishing Charters is like no other! The owners, staff, and guides make you feel like family.
I have been on a few chartered fishing trips before and by far I can say this is a top notch outfit here. We ended up staying 3 nights and fishing two days. I have fished my entire life and can say I have never caught more fish in two days then with what I caught with Capt. Brock. A group of twelve went and the entire staff and crew were the most generous, accomadating and helpful I have ever met. I can confidently say that with the weather conditions we had (cold front first morning) we could not have done any better on the water. We were constantly reeling in fish. We had to move one time because the fish were too big! Im sure no one has ever said that before fishing but Capt. Brock knew we wanted to take some fish home so after catching some trophy fish (20+ lbs) he put us on spots for keepers. I can not recommend this place enough. Capt's Brock, Casey and Jody are great. James and Rosemary are two of the finest people out there. We can't wait to go back.
My company took five of us on a weekend fishing trip. This was probably my fifth trip to Griffin and it just keeps getting better and better. This trip James and Rosemary went above and beyond for our guys. We got way more than fish.... We also had the best food and were treated like family. Our first day was rained out, so they asked us to stay another night to fish the next day. It was fantastic!!!! Captain Colby was my captain and was superb, we limited out by 9 am! The other guys said their captain was awesome too. They limited out shortly after we did. I will definitely be back. I will be taking my wife next time.....hopefully very, very soon!!! Like in a few weeks !!!!
Had the best experience ever staying with Griffin. Rooms were in perfect condition, food was top notch, and the people including guides and owners were second to none. That was just the stay. The fishing couldn't have been better. There were 2 boats in our group with a total of 5 people. We both had our limits and were back at the dock in no time. Fish was cleaned and bagged for us and lunch was waiting in the lunch hall. All in all, the best fishing experience ever. I will be back. Thank y'all again.
Wow! Every once in a while you get blind sided. This is definately one of those times! There were two groups, the wives on one boat and the husbands on another. The ladies just wanted to go fishing, so their guide loaded them up and off they went. The captain stopped and fueled up and bought the shrimp they would use for bait, and catchen' they did! They caught and they caught. One landed a 38" Black Drum! Talk about your good time! The girls reported they had the best time ever. The men, on the other hand decided they wanted to fish for the big red fish (bull reds). We discussed the differences in fishing for bull reds and that's what they decided to so, so off they went! The captain stopped to fuel up and they did make a second stop so the guide could buy crabs which is the bait they needed to fish for the bull reds. There was actually no third stop. ( Side note, our guides stop to fuel up on the way out so they have adequate fuel for their trips.) They fished hard, but didn't experience the success their wives had. Both boats came back to the docks. Our normal practice is for the guides to clean and pack the fish for the guest, however, the person that booked this particular trip told us they were not bringing fish home as they live in Canada, (I spoke to this person earlier today and she confirmed it was never their intent to bring fish home) instead, they requested a shore lunch. So the guides cleaned their catch and we cooked lunch using their fish. The ladies had in fact caught enough fish to share with the other guest, however, if guest plan on bringing fish home and request a shore lunch, our normal practice is for the guide to give the person cooking enough fish to cook for the guest in that party and pack the remaining fish for them to take home. In that situation, we serve other guest the lunch we planned for that day. In this case, the ladies caught plenty, and told us they were not going to bring them home, so we fried what we had. A good lunch was enjoyed by all! During lunch, there was a little teasing going on by the ladies, and we thought it was all good fun. Everyone was laughing and joking around and they told us they had a great time. I called the person that booked the trip to get feedback from her. She said she had a great time and would love to come back. She had no idea who wrote the review but would send out an email and give them our phone number so they could give us a call to discuss. I told her we would be glad to ship fish to anyone in their group. She said she would pass that along in the email. We're still stumped! What we know is we and everyone on our stall always give 100% effort to please our guest and will continue to do so. We will do whatever it takes to please our customers! Our goal is to have raving fans!
Thank you for choosing Griffin Fishing for part of your honeymoon celebration! We're so pleased you had a great time, enjoyed your guide, did some great catchen, and enjoyed your lunch! What a compliment... The best GUMBO in Louisiana! Thank you! We can't wait for you to come back! Bring some friends and come on down!
Best fishing charter ever! We love Capt Casey and everyone we met there. Great food as well. You won't leave here hungry....or skinny!
