We were lucky enough to be there when no one else was and the gentleman gave us our own private tour. He was very knowledgeable about the Sullivans and history of Alaska. Definitely worth the stop and check out the crystallized egg tin - who knew they had powdered eggs back in the 1800's!

This authentic roadhouse had a wonderful gentleman who was full of stories and history. We peppered him with questions and spent a most enjoyable hour learning about the roadhouse history so important in Alaska's past. Worth the stop at Delta Junction

This is a treasure tucked away in Delta Junction. A wonderful museum that was an actual roadhouse along the Valdez Trail. The community has brought it to life with authentic stories and items of the period, knowledgable local folk and quaint events that are charming. A great piece of significant Ak history, and it's FREE!

The cabin is amazing. There's a lot of history inside and a lot of the original pieces to look at. What's really cool, so make sure you check it out, is that they have the story from when the United States Army moved the cabin to its current location from its former location just by helicopters and a lot of volunteer man work. I definitely recommend go seeing this place.

We visit the Roadhouse regularly. It is so interesting to imagine being a traveler on this route in times gone by. The volunteers are welcoming and informative, the displays are informative and the gardens are a joy to behold.

July 2011. My husband and I just stopped at the last moment at the visitor's center next door. I just couldn't resist the gardens and the next thing we were given a tour of the building. It was so interesting and the guide was excellent. It gives you a real feel for how the early settlers of Alaska lived. And the gardens are just beautiful. We went back the next morning for the weekly Farmers Market out back too.

In the summertime, the Roadhouse garden is a wonderful sight. Inside are the rustic remains of pioneer Alaskan life. The hostesses are knowledgeable and friendly. And just out back on Wednesdays and Saturdays is the local farmer's market.

History on display and hosted by locals in the summer. Catch them on the right day and often there are homemade cookies to sample made from tasty Alaskan grown fresh favorites such as rhubarb, wild berries; especially the blueberries. Other special events held had this historic treasure are an Afternoon Tea in June or July, Soup and Bread after the fall harvest in August, a huge yard sale the weekend after Labor Day (they line up for it starting at 8am so come early-doors open at 9am) and the holiday open house the Saturday following Thanksgiving to "light up the roadhouse" with many beautiful lights and decorations which stay on until after New Year's Day. If you are passing through in the summer, the roadhouse museum is open daily with a local resident to greet you at the door. The upkeep is all done by volunteers. The gardens are quite extraordinary and you'll be delighted with local favorite as well as the giant cabbage and other Alaska crops. Feel free to eat some of the sugar snap peas or grab some fresh rhubarb, lettuce and other offerings while visiting. Just real friendly, nice folks in Delta ready to welcome you and encourage you to "sit for a spell" and learn the about this historical treasure they have in their town.

If you are driving through Delta Junction, make sure to stop by Sullivans Roadhouse Historical Museum. The people of Delta Junction/Fort Greely have done a wonderful job and moved the house from the old 'gold trail' to the middle of Delta Junction... with all the furnishings and equipment of the gold rush area. This has been the second time that I went there and still I have discovered new stories about the house and its former owners. Don't be afraid to ask the ladies in charge - they are very friendly and they know so much to tell about! You will see how time passes in there!!
