bungonia state conservation area

We are not caving or rock-climbing people, which is what Bungonia is best known for I believe, but there are also a number of walks, one of which we did this month, the Yellow Track. It's a 5km (2.5km in and then back out) walk to a look out. The walk is rated as moderate in the park's brochure, but by comparison with walk grading in Kosciuszko National Park, we'd say this was a little harder than moderate - on the basis of the unevenness of the ground in places, and the amount of up and down involved. That said, we two averagely fit 60-somethings managed it on a 34°C day. There is a water crossing, which was fine on the day we did it. The rocks were dry and stable.Drinking water is available at various spots in the park.We also visited two of the lookouts. The river here is the Shoalhaven.

What a fantastic piece of Australia this is.Great Camping facilities and the lookouts are truly spectacular.What is really good about Bungonia State Conservation Area is the ability for easy access for wheelchairs and the mobility challenged.Electric barbecues on site and good toilets and showers with plenty of water available.$7 day permit for all vehicles unless you have a parks pass.Camping is $10 per person per night.We did the Yellow walk which was fun and had a look at all the Lookout points.Of particular note is the Lookdown.All the walks are well marked and the time limits are close to what it would take a person of reasonable fitness to complete.There is also the possibility of abseiling and canyoning in this area.A good park indeed.

You into raw adventure? Well the Bungonia Caves are for you... Located in the Bungonia State Conservation Area, the caves are pure adventure caves... no guides, simply your own equipment, your own courage.

I only went to the lookouts today, the walks have to wait for another time, but this park is well worth a visit. Although it is only a bit over an hour from Canberra it is a bit out of the way and I doubt if you would ever be crowded. The views were great and the picnic facilities looked very inviting. I'll be back, only with more time available next time.

This park is an easy drive from Goulburn. The routes are well marked and there is something for all ages and abilities. We choose two walks and also the scenic lookouts (which I was most impressed to see were wheel chair accessible). Beautiful way to spend a morning.

Awesome place to go for a light or heavy hike! Views to die for. Got a spare day or two? Get a bag a tent and find a nice place to camp it is beautiful. The serenity. The fishing. The gorge. Breath taking!

We loved going here, we took our little people and the tracks were perfect for them. The picnic areas were clean and tidy. Everything was well signed. Love it!

If you are an experienced canyoner, head over to Bungonia. I really like Long Gully, which drops into the Shoalhaven River; Bungonia and Jerrara Creeks. But it's a different type of canyoning country from the Blue Mountains. More open. And the pools of Bungonia can be an eerie green. The camping facilities at the national park are superb - a camp kitchen + hot showers - although the camping site can be hard as ... so bring your thickest thermarest.

What wonderful fastcinating place. This nature is incredible.I wished people would aprishiate more what they have at THEIR DOOR STEP. A shame that the people leave so much rubbish behind. We will visit again.

Great for walks and peaceful visitation. A bit costly to gain entry though. One thing in it's favour - It has not fallen victim to commercialization.

Amenities have been upgraded, but it is still a fairly basic place. The attractions are in the gorges and the river at the bottom - but this is for committed walkers and not the young or the unfit. Have seen lyrebirds, reptiles, roos, etc.
